Coriolanus is an uncommonly produced Shakespeare play, here brought to life looking into the fated general's struggles with tradition and stability in an increasingly progressive society. To turn the gender roles on their head in wartime Rome, we cast the lion's share of leadership as women, including Coriolanus and Auphidius. Our play lives out in a universe we wish existed -- one in which people of all genders and orientations have equal opportunity to exist and prosper. One inequity remains - the injustice of class. War, poverty, struggles for political primacy, and the struggle to not just survive, but to thrive -- these could be torn from our contemporary headlines.New World Shakespeare Company presents Coriolanus as a dramatic spotlight on Continue Mission - No Veteran Left Behind, continuemission.org.Performances:Thursday, January 9, 7:30Friday, January 10, 7:30Saturday,January 11, 7:30Sunday, January 12, 3:00 show, 5:00 audience discussionThursday, January 16, 7:30Friday, January 17, 7:30Saturday, January 18, 7:30Sunday, January 19, 3:00
