ACT ONE
Scene One
Night Festival at Duke. The hall is full of men and women discharged. Duke fun surrounded by close friends. In all felt promiscuity, holiday smacks a little orgy. Duke Borso bragging to approximate their new love affair: three months he visits the temple and watching the young stranger. Borsa drew his attention to the girls in the audience.
The Duke decides to withdraw from under the nose of Count Ceprano his wife. Rigoletto mocks Count Ceprano and then advises the Duke to kidnap the Countess at night. Marullo, Duke approached, rumors that Rigoletto has a mistress, which he carefully hides. Ceprano Rigoletto decides to take revenge for his vicious attacks and gathers all the insults.
In the midst of festive fun unexpectedly Count Monterone. He came to bring to justice the shame of the Duke's daughter. In order to please the owner, Rigoletto mocks his father humiliated. Enraged Monterone curses the Duke and jester. Monterone is taken into custody. Duke continues the fun and Rigoletto leaves holiday.
Scene Two
Humiliated Rigoletto returns home. His appearance frightens the stranger Sparafucile, who offers the services of an assassin. Houses Rigoletto's daughter Gilda meets. Internal unrest in the evening makes Rigoletto find a common language with his daughter. He can not be distracted by the events happened to him at the festival. Rigoletto instructs the maid Giovanna protect Gilda, and do not let her leave the house.
Left alone, Gilda says the young man with whom she is often seen in the temple. The maid, bribed by the Duke, let him in the house. Appearing before the girl, she plays the Duke of itself in love of the poor student. The noise on the street forced the Duke to escape.
The house Rigoletto going rabid crowd of courtiers. They are conceived to steal his mistress jester. Rigoletto returns home to finish a conversation with her daughter. Near his house he encounters Marullo, which offers Rigoletto to participate in their prank - stealing the Countess Ceprano. Jester with a zeal included in the false "masquerade." The courtiers abduct Gilda. Rigoletto realizes that no fraud stole the Countess Ceprano, and his daughter.
ACT TWO
Duke's chambers. He is furious: Someone stole a girl whom he wanted to get. Duke is ready to take revenge on cruel kidnapper. The courtiers, wishing to cheer him, tell of a night adventure. Duke understands that we are talking about the daughter of Rigoletto, and at the same time on a welcome stranger. He goes to the room where the conspirators hid the girl. Rigoletto appears and greets the crowd of courtiers. He is trying to go to the Duke, in the hope that he will help him find his daughter. The court jester is not allowed in the master bedroom. The page comes in and says that the Duke of Duchess of waiting. From remarks by Page and court Rigoletto realizes that Duke is now with his daughter. Gilda runs out of the chambers of the Duke. Rigoletto in despair for his actions affected the innocent child. He decides to avenge the shame of his daughter.
ACT THREE
A month passed. Night. Wanting to convince the daughter to change her lover, Rigoletto brings Gilda to Sparafucile home. Gilda is in despair, seeing courtship Duke of Maddalena, the sister of the bandit. Rigoletto, comforting daughter, he promises revenge. He forces her to leave the city. Jester Sparafucile agrees with the murder of his master. Maddalena keen Duke. She begs his brother to spare her lover to kill the first person to enter the house until midnight, and the body to give the customer. Gilda returns to the house of Sparafucile and heard a terrible call. It strongly enters the house and gets killer mortal wound.
At midnight Rigoletto returns. Upon receipt of the bag with the corpse of Sparafucile, Rigoletto was going to throw it into the river. Suddenly, in the distance, he heard the familiar voice of the Duke. Rigoletto opens the bag and finds his daughter killed. Distraught jester realizes that everything that happened - the price paid for his work. With horror he recalled the unfortunate father, Monterone.
