2019 is shaping up to be a great year for theatre goers in Jacksonville! Here is a list of nine shows we are looking forward to this year.

1. Godspell- Alhambra Theatre and Dining

The Tony nominated show will be starting off the 2019 season at the Alhambra. Godspell tells the story of a group helping Jesus Christ tell parables to many groups through music and dance.

The Tony Award winning show starts performance on January 22. The musical takes place in 19th century France, following many characters and their paths that cross. Audience members will recognize many of the iconic songs such as "I Dreamed A Dream" and "One Day More".

3.Legally Blonde: The Musical-Thrasher-Horne Center

Legally Blonde: The Musical follows the story of Elle Woods and her journey as a law student at Harvard. The musical based on the iconic 2001 movie is a light hearted show with great lessons throughout.

4.The Sound of Music- Thrasher-Horne Center

Rodgers and Hammerstein's The Sound of Music will be on March 16. The Tony Award winning show follows Maria and the von Trapp family through the iconic score , such as "My Favorite Things" and "The Sound of Music".

5. Finding Neverland-Thrasher-Horne Center

The Tony Award Winning show will be at the Thrasher Horne for one performance only on March 26. The show follows the story of the iconic character Peter Pan. Finding Neverland is sure to be a great show for all audience members!

6. Waitress- Times Union Center of the Performing Arts

March 12-17

The iconic show Waitress, with music by pop star Sara Bareilles, will begin its run in Jacksonville on March 12. The musical, based on the 2007 film of the same name, follows the story of Jenna. She is a waitress at Joe's Diner who is at a difficult time in her life. The audience will be in awe of the emotion and musical genius behind this show.

7. School of Rock- Times Union Center of the Performing Arts

April 16-20

Andrew Lloyd Webber's School of Rock will be in Jacksonville April 16. Based on the movie of the same name, follows a wannabe rocker who becomes a substitute teacher. He teaches some of the smartest kids about rock-n-roll and makes them a little rock band of his own. It is sure to rock audiences of all ages!

8. Little Mermaid- Alhambra Theatre and Dining

June 12-July 28

The summer family show at the Alhambra will be the iconic Little Mermaid! The musical is based on the 1989 Disney movie, and as someone who was obsessed with the Little Mermaid as a kid, I am very excited for the show.

9. Elf: The Muscial- Alhambra Theatre and Dining

November 27-December 24

I am very excited for the return of Elf: The Musical at the Alhambra! The show sold out very quickly in 2018 that they are bringing it back. It is a great family friendly show perfect for the Christmas season.
