Based on the 1992 motion picture and inspired by a true story, Newsies features a Tony Award-winning score by Alan Menken (Little Shop of Horrors, Beauty & the Beast) and Jack Feldman and a book by Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein (Kinky Boots). Featuring the now classic songs "Carrying the Banner," "Seize the Day," and "Santa Fe," Newsies is packed with non-stop thrills and a timeless message, perfect for the whole family and every audience.
Set in turn-of-the century New York City, Newsies is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of teenaged "newsies." When titans of publishing raise distribution prices at the newsboys' expense, Jack rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions and fight for what’s right! While on Broadway, Newsies received 23 major theatrical nominations – including eight Tony Award nods – and won Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Score and Choreography.

White Plains Performing Arts Center is at 11 City Pl, 3rd Floor, White Plains, NY.
Through a combination of self-produced, professional theatrical productions as well as presentation of nationally and internationally known performing artists and companies in the disciplines of theatre, dance, music, stand-up comedy and children’s programming; WPPAC provides residents of White Plains and the surrounding communities an easily accessible, intimate and comfortable setting to see LIVE entertainment in the heart of Westchester County. The theater also provides a professional space for rentals to local arts and educational organizations, special interest groups and businesses to present their own performances and host meetings for a reasonable rate with the assistance of a professional staff. These organizations not only secure a professional venue for their event but also provide a diverse roster of artists and opportunities for many culturally specific communities. In addition, the White Plains Performing Arts Center’s EDUCATION DEPARTMENT is the ONLY educational theatre program in residence at a professional theatre in all of Westchester. The Education Department is a professional training and presentation program offered year-round for all theatrical artists between the ages of 10-25.
