THE GOOD DOCTOR
By Neil Simon
Paying tribute to his favorite playwright, Anton Chekov, Neil Simon retells Chekov’s stories with equal doses of humor, warmth and charm. The title character breaks the fourth wall and shares a hodgepodge of stories with the audience, some based on his life, some based on that of his friends and family. They include, but are not limited to, a married woman who turns the table on her seducer, a man who claims to be an expert in drowning, an ill banker besieged by an upset woman and many more. Ranging from heartbreaking to hilarious, the characters and stories ring true to the often absurd nature of humankind.
