Join Gerald Schreiner, Daneel van Der Walt, David Lubbe and the Swing Cats for another evening of prohibition era swing, jazz and blues music at The Reserve this December. With the country in a technical recession, this return to the era of the Great Depression promises the opportunity for Capetonians to drink and dance their sorrows away, the old-fashioned way! For SWING NIGHTS, Schreiner and Van der Walt on vocals are joined by Lubbe on piano and The Swing Cats on trumpet, trombone, drums, double bass and clarinet. They will entertain guests with dance-friendly music, including familiar standards such as "Too Darn Hot," "Let's Call the Whole Thing Off" and "On the Sunny Side of the Street." SWING NIGHTS will be a night of singing and dancing, with a dance floor that encourages everyone to get off their chairs and foxtrot, swing, tap or do the jitterbug. In the spirit of old-school dinner dances, speakeasies, flapper dresses, flat caps and champagne glasses moulded off the breast of Marie Antoinette, guests are requested to dress the part. Although this is not compulsory, it will add to the vibe.
