This Random World in Broadway THIS RANDOM WORLD
Portland Actors Conservatory
4/7-4/23/2017
This Random World by Steven Dietz Directed by Beth Harper West Coast Premier We want to believe that serendipity brings us together, that luck is available to all, and that randomness is just a myth, but, is it? Mining the comedy of missed connections, This Random World asks the serious question of how often we travel parallel paths through the world without noticing. Do we see what is right in front of us? Are we capable of that? From an ailing woman who plans one final trip, to her daughter planning one great escape and her son falling prey to a prank gone wrong, this funny, intimate, and heartbreaking play explores the lives that may be happening just out of reach of our own. A hit at the 2016 Humana Festival. Previews April 5-7, runs April 7-23

Portland Center Stage at The Armory

A World Premiere! Lauren’s current obsessions: love and heartbreak; big hair and tight jeans; Loretta Lynn and John Prine — or songs she thinks make her look skinny and appropriately tragic. The hilarious and versatile Lauren Weedman (Bust, The People’s Republic of Portland) knows a thing or two about love gone wrong, and she’s ready to sing her heart out about it (Yes! Lauren sings!) and tell you a few tall tales, too. Lauren will be joined by a band of fine musicians; and we’re pretty sure her hair will be bigger than ever.

Workshopped at JAW at PCS in 2010, Theatre Vertigo is proud to bring A Maze back to Portland for a full production. “It's heady. It's funny, poignant and challenging. The organization operates under a unique model sans the more traditional leadership of an artistic or managing director. In 2015, keeping this foundation in mind, Vertigo’s mission statement was updated to include a commitment to the production of new or rarely seen works. With this new mission in place, Theatre Vertigo aims to become a destination for playwrights to develop their work in a collaborative setting, both locally in Portland and abroad.
