Tamara Granat

Born in Wroc?aw. She studied at the Academy of Music in Gdansk. She also took part in the summer master courses under prof. Victor Mierzanov and Tatiana Szebanowa (Moscow). She is a laureate of the National Competition for 1st grade artistic scholarships TIFC in Warsaw as well as the Paderewski Piano Competition in Bydgoszcz. In the same year she debuted by performing the A-Major Concerto by Liszt with the Baltic Philharmonic Orchestra and Jerzy Maksymiuk.

For 20 years she performed, alongside Waldemar Malicki, in a piano duet for four hands and two pianos. She recorded 11 CDs and gave numerous recordings for the Polish Radio and TV. The duet performed in many European countries, in the USA (Kennedy Center, Washington DC 1991; Lincoln Center, New York 2005), in Russia (International Piano Duet Competition, Yekaterinburg 1991). Duo Granat also gave concerts in the Polish National Philharmonic in 1996, 2001 and 2011. The duet made several recordings with the National Radio Orchestra in Katowice, including Mozart's E flat major Concerto for two pianos as well as XX Century Concertos. Duo Granat performed with a number of conductors, including Jan Krenz, Andriej Boreyko, Wojciech Michniewski, Mika Eichenholz, Wojciech Rajski, Taduesz Wojciechowski, as well as alongside the following orchestras: Sinfonia Varsovia, Baltic Philharmonic, Olsztyn Philharmonic, Pozna? Philharmonic, Lublin Philharmonic, Yekaterynburg Orchestra, Polish Radio Orchestra, Cracow Philharmonic. The due's Bach Piano Concertos album, recorded with the Prima Vista Quartet, received the most prestigious Polish music award (Fryderyk 2000). Their recordings of Paderewski received a nomination for the prize in the following year. In 2009 she worked with Daniel Propper to record two albums French Music for Piano Duo and Malagueña.

Currently she plays in a piano duo with Rafael A. ?uszczewski. In March 2014, on the request of the Polish Radio, the duo recorded an album with Polish music at the S-1 recording studio in Poland. The album features truly virtuoso pieces from the period of romanticism written by Filip Scharwenka, Ignacy Friedman, Maurycy Moszkowski, Juliusz Zar?bski, Witold Lutos?awski and Roman Maciejewski. In July 2014, the duo will record another album for the Polish Radio entirely featuring music written by Polish composers. The duo strongly believes in the importance of promoting Polish music both abroad, as well as in the country. Recently, the duo was in charge of overseeing the editing process of Roman Maciejewski's Negro Spirituals publication by PWM.

Rafael A. ?uszczewski

He made his international debut at the age of 16 with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. Within 20 years of his extensive artistic carreer toured the North and South America, Australia, The Middle East, Asia, Africa and nearly all countries of Europe, gathering the highest acclaim from the audience and the music critics.

Since 2003, listed as a Steinway Artist on the Steinway & Sons Artists' Roster in New York. Also known as a Montblanc Artist, for his recording of the Chopin's Piano Concerto No.1 with Philharmonia of the Nations Orchestra in Hamburg, exclusively for the Montblanc Meisterstück on the 150th anniversary of Fryderyk Chopin's death. His performances have been held at many prestigious concert-halls around the world. In his performing he has participated in some renowned international music festivals.

He completed his music studies with the greatest authorities and legendary virtuosos of the Piano: prof. Andrzej Jasinski, Maestro Lazar Berman and Maestro Alexis Weissenberg. Received his Master's Degree in Performing Arts at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice. Pursued his musical training at the International Piano Academy "Incontri col Maestro" in Imola (Italy) and completed postgraduate studies at Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar.

He received the highest prizes at the international piano competitions, such as: Clara Schumann in Germany, Maria Canals in Spain, Luis Sigall in Chile. At the UNESCO-International Piano Competition "Dinu Lipatti" in Romania he was decorated with the Grand Prix - 1st prize. His artistic activity and merits have also been recognized with several special distinctions; awarded by the Ministry of Culture and Arts of the Republic of Poland, The President of Romania, Fryderyk Chopin Society in Warsaw, The Board of the City of Rio de Janeiro and others.

As an active recording artist, he made music recordings for Swiss Classical Radio (DRS 2), Polish Radio S.A., Radio Slovenia, Australian Broadcast Corporation (ABC) in Australia, Fujisankei Group in Japan, National Public Radio (NPR) in USA, Galavisión in Chile, to name just a few. His CD's have been released by Japanese, Polish, Swiss and German labels. His diverse piano-concerto-repertoire features 30 works from the period of Bach to contemporary. The Romanticism is particularly widely represented. He also performs modern Polish concertos, such as dedicated to him Concerto for Piano and Orchestra by Krzesimir D?bski (1991).

He has become Guest Professor and Lecturer at universities, master courses and international music festivals in Poland and abroad. In 2003, has been appointed Honorary Professor at the National University of Costa Rica. Considered as a specialist-interpreter of Chopin, he offered numerous piano recitals at Fryderyk Chopin Museum - House of His Birth in Zelazowa Wola (Poland). In 2011, he created and launched the International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition for South America in Lima, Peru becoming its President and jury member.
