Based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, WICKED has music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, and a book byWinnie Holzman. The production is directed by Joe Mantello with musical staging by Wayne Cilento. WICKED is produced by Marc Platt, Universal Pictures, The Araca Group, Jon B. Platt and David Stone. The skill needed to adapt Gregory Maguire's novel into a stageable script takes both collaboration and out-of-the-box thinking. Working closely with the rest of the creative team, Wicked's book writer Winnie Holzman defined characters, built plot and weaved together themes to bring the story of Elphaba and Glinda to the stage. The cast of the landmark musical Rent performed today on Regis Philbin's final episode of 'Live! with Regis and Kelly.' Mr. Philbin's extraordinary run was celebrated in his final minutes on the show with a surprise performance of Rent's signature song, 'Seasons of Love,' with special lyrics penned for the occasion by the production teams of both shows.
