STAGE TUBE: On This Day 12/17- PARADE

Today in 1998, Parade opened at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre, where it ran for 85 performances. Parade is a musical with a book by Alfred Uhry and music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown. The production was directed by Harold Prince and starred Brent Carver as Leo Frank, Carolee Carmello as Lucille Frank, and Christy Carlson Romano as Mary Phagan. The musical won Tony Awards for best book and best score (out of nine nominations) and six Drama Desk Awards. The show has enjoyed a U.S. national tour and numerous professional and amateur productions in both the U.S. and abroad.

The American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) at Harvard University is presenting the world premiere of the musical Finding Neverland, with music and lyrics by Gary Barlow and Eliot Kennedy, book by James Graham, directed by A.R.T. Artistic Director Diane Paulus with choreography by Mia Michaels. The production is currently playing Loeb Drama Center, 64 Brattle Street in Cambridge, MA and runs through Sunday, September 28. BroadwayWorld's Richard Ridge just took an exciting trip to Cambridge to bring you a special interview with the show's stars Jeremy Jordan and Laura Michelle Kelly, who play J.M. Kathie Lee Gifford discussed the closing of her new Broadway musical SCANDALOUS on the Today show on NBC. 'So many of the brand new shows this fall really, really have struggled and are posting closings,' she lamented. 'Hurricane Sandy was just devastating to everyone in the tri-state area but Broadway was badly hit.' Check out more of Gifford's comments below.
