The highly acclaimed Aspen Santa Fe Ballet will present a program of three NYC premieres, at The Joyce Theater (175 Eighth Avenue at 19th street) from tonight, October 16 - 21.

Baritone Thomas Hampson will step into one of his favorite roles, Verdi's Simon Boccanegra, for a Lyric Opera of Chicago production led by Sir Andrew Davis (tonight, Oct 15-Nov 9). Also this month, on October 18th, Hampson will give one of his acclaimed SONG OF AMERICA recitals in Akron, Ohio, with longtime colleague Kevin Murphy.

Orpheus Chamber Orchestra returns to Jorgensen this season to perform the first of four in its 40th anniversary commissioned works, Earth Echoes by Pulitzer Prize nominee Augusta Read Thomas, in a Connecticut premiere that will include Metropolitan Opera stars Sasha Cooke and Nathan Gunn. The concert, fresh from its Carnegie Hall debut the night before, will be performed Friday, Oct. 12, at 7:30 p.m., preceded by a concert talk by UConn music historian Glenn Stanley at 6:45 p.m.

On the heels of his success at London's legendary Last Night of the BBC Proms this past weekend-which was broadcast live on television, radio, online, and in cinemas across the U.K.-Joseph Calleja, "arguably today's finest lyric tenor" (NPR), returns to the Big Apple tonight, October 11 to perform selections from his new Decca Classics recording, Be My Love: A Tribute to Mario Lanza, in a concert with orchestra at City Winery in downtown Manhattan.

Young Italian conductor Michele Mariotti will make his Met debut leading Richard Eyre's critically acclaimed production of the repertory classic.

Chicago Opera Theater (COT) announces that Emily Hindrichs will be taking over the role of The Queen of the Night in the upcoming production of Mozart's The Magic Flute. This will be Hindrichs' first performance with COT, in a role she has sung with great success in the US and abroad.
