Meet the Cast: THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA US Tour- Part 1!

Just last week, Cameron Mackintosh and Andrew Lloyd Webber's Really Useful Group announced the casting and initial tour schedule for their spectacular new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera launching a major North American Tour in Providence, R.I. at the Providence Performing Arts Center. With newly reinvented staging and stunning scenic design, this new version of PHANTOM, the most successful musical of all-time, will be performed by a cast and orchestra of 52, making this one of the largest productions on tour in North America. Lisa McCune and Teddy Tahu Rhodes to Star in Opera Australia's THE KING AND I from April 15

Opera Australia Artistic Director Lyndon Terracini and leading Australian theatre producer John Frost today announced the principal cast for Rodgers and Hammerstein's classic Broadway musical The King and I. Lisa McCune and Teddy Tahu Rhodes will co-star in the Tony Award-winning Australian production, which is being revived next year by the Gordon Frost Organisation and Opera Australia.

Knoxville Opera Opens Season with THE TALES OF HOFFMANN, 10/25

Knoxville Opera will open its 36th Season with a stunning production of Offenbach's popular The Tales of Hoffmann, on October 25th and 27th, at the magnificent Tennessee Theatre. The production stars Talise Trevigne, performing all four soprano roles, a rare feat tackled by very few artists in history.

Principal Oboist Jonathan Fischer to Solo with the Houston Symphony October 24-27

On October 24, 26 and 27, the Houston Symphony's recently appointed Principal Oboe Jonathan Fischer will take solo spotlight on the Jones Hall stage to perform Mozart's tuneful Oboe Concerto. Written when Mozart was just 21 years old, the concerto is one of the most important works in the oboe repertoire. Fischer joined the Houston Symphony as Principal Oboe in September 2012 and will make his solo debut with these performances. In addition to the Mozart Oboe Concerto, returning Finnish conductor Hannu Lintu will conduct Helix, a short piece written in 2005 by fellow Finnish composer Esa-Pekka Salonen. Also on the program is Schumann's Symphony No. 2, which is famous for its energetic and whimsical Scherzo.

Dallas Opera Presents 'Dallas Opera Perspectives' Today

The Dallas Opera, in partnership with the Meadows Museum at Southern Methodist University, is delighted to introduce the first in a series of new programs hosted by Dallas Opera General Director and CEO Keith Cerny and designed to present informed personal perspectives on the arts.

North Carolina Opera Presents Mozart's COSI FAN TUTTE Tonight

Coming to Raleigh's Fletcher Opera Theater tonight, October 3 and October 5 and 6 is a fully staged operatic production of Mozart's Così fan tutte (or 'The School for Lovers') presented by the North Carolina Opera (Sung in Italian with English supertitles).

AIN'T MISBEHAVIN' Creator Murray Horowitz Set for Sunday @ The Segal Today

A rare opportunity for theatre lovers, Ain't Misbehavin' co-creator and veteran radio broadcaster Murray Horwitz will join Director of Opera at McGill University, Patrick Hansen, for an intimate pre-show talk today, September 29th at 11:00 a.m. Sunday @ The Segal is part of the Segal Centre's SEGAL + Public Programs. ENTRANCE IS FREE.

Stephanie Blythe to Perform with Les Violons du Roy at Harris Theatre, 10/14-27

Mezzo-soprano Stephanie Blythe - coming off a starring role in Robert Lepage's production of the Ring Cycle at New York's Metropolitan Opera - heads to Chicago for her Harris Theater debut, performing alongside the award-winning French-Canadian ensemble Les Violons du Roy and Music Director Bernard Labadie, October 17 at 7:30 pm. Ms. Blythe and Les Violons du Roy stop in Chicago as part of their North American tour running October 14 - 27.

Carnegie Hall Presents Three New York Premieres Performed by Jessica Rivera, Kelley O'Connor, and Robert Spano, 10/29

On Tuesday, October 29 at 7:30 p.m., sopranoJessica Rivera and mezzo-soprano Kelley O'Connor are joined by pianist Robert Spanoon a program featuring three New York premieres, two of which are Carnegie Hall co-commissions. Ms. O'Connor and Ms. Rivera have collaborated in concert halls and on modern operatic masterpieces including Osvaldo Golijov's Ainadamar and John Adams's El Niño. This unique program features Ms. O'Connor performing the New York premiere of David Bruce's That Time With You, a four-song cycle that she co-commissioned with Carnegie Hall. Ms. Rivera sings the New York premiere of Jonathan Leshnoff's Monica Songs, another Carnegie Hall co-commission. Two selections from The Kitchen Songbook by Gabriela Lena Frank will also have their New York debuts, sung by both Ms. O'Connor and Ms. Rivera. Completing this diverse program, the artists present vocal duets by Saint-Saens, Mendelssohn, and Gounod, as well as Debussy's erotically charged Chansons de Bilitis and Mompou's haunting "Combat del Somni."

Court Theatre to Present AN ILIAD Revival, 11/13-12/8

Court Theatre continues its 2013-2014 season with the revival of the OBIE Award-winning play An Iliad by Denis O'Hare and Lisa Peterson, directed by Artistic Director Charles Newell and starring Timothy Edward Kane. An Iliad will run November 13 - December 8, 2013 at Court Theatre, 5535 S. Ellis Avenue.

NY Philharmonic's 'Insights Series' Now Free; 2013-14 Lineup Announced

Beginning with the 2013-14 season, the New York Philharmonic's Insights Series - in which artists and experts will explore some of the season's themes and concerts - will now be free, and take place at the David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center. This season's events will include discussions with Concertmaster Glenn Dicterow during his farewell season (October 23); composer-conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen and violinist Leila Josefowicz (October 28), who will discuss Mr. Salonen's Violin Concerto, written for Ms. Josefowicz (which they will perform with the Philharmonic in its New York Concert Premiere, October 30-November 5); Music Director Alan Gilbert and Executive Director Matthew VanBesien on the state of the Philharmonic (March 3, 2014); The Mary and James G. Wallach Artist-in-Residence Yefim Bronfman (May 20, 2014), who will talk about Beethoven's piano concertos (which he will perform during The Beethoven Piano Concertos: A Philharmonic Festival, June 11-28, 2014); and discussions relating to the NY PHIL BIENNIAL, the details of which will be announced at a later date.
