Dance Consortium Presents Dada Masilo's GISELLE

Dance Consortium is delighted to announce Dada Masilo's forthcoming UK tour of Giselle. Following the international success of her acclaimed reinterpretations of Carmen, Romeo and Juliet and Swan Lake, Soweto-born dancer and award-winning, internationally-renowned choreographer, Dada Masilo brings her latest production Giselle to the UK this autumn with London premiere performances at Sadler's Wells on 4 & 5October, and a subsequent tour taking in Nottingham, Bradford, Birmingham, Salford Quays, Milton Keynes, Brighton and concluding in Canterbury on 2 November.

Hubbard Street Dance Chicago Presents Repertoire Highlights

Hubbard Street Dance Chicago's upcoming Summer Series program will feature highlights from the company's recent repertoire, including work by acclaimed choreographers Brian Brooks, Resident Choreographer Alejandro Cerrudo and Crystal Pite. The program will premiere at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance in Millennium Park (205 East Randolph Street) on Thursday, June 6 at 7:30 p.m., followed by performances Saturday, June 8 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, June 9 at 3 p.m.  Tickets are now on sale.

The Joyce Presents Three Companies In MERCE CUNNINGHAM CELEBRATION

The Joyce Theater Foundation (Linda Shelton, Executive Director), with support from the Merce Cunningham Trust, presents The Merce Cunningham Celebration, an evening of performances paying tribute to the iconic choreographer Merce Cunningham, April 17-21 at The Joyce Theater, as part of the Merce Cunningham Centennial. Three companies - Compagnie CNDC-Angers/Robert Swinston, Ballet West, and The Washington Ballet - each honor the Cunningham's legacy with a selection from his vast repertoire.

ABT Studio Company To Perform At The Joyce in April

American Ballet Theatre Studio Company will appear at The Joyce Theater in New York City for three performances, Wednesday, April 24 at 7:30 PM, Thursday, April 25 and Saturday, April 27 at 8:00 PM.

BWW Review: Hubbard Street Dance Chicago comes to New York City

The opening night of Hubbard Street Dance Chicago's two-week Return Engagement at the Joyce Theater, NYC was Wednesday 3619; and I was happy to attend. The first-week features works by Ohad Naharin (Director of Batsheva Dance Company, Israel) with DecaDanceChicago which included segments of Naharin's creations, having debuted between 1993 and 2011.

Martha Graham Dance Company Announces 2019 Season Gala

The Martha Graham Dance Company will host its annual gala on Tuesday, April 9, 2019. This special gala evening will honor Barbara Cohen, a Trustee of the Martha Graham Center, for her generosity and service to the company. Proceeds from the gala support the creation of new works and preservation of Martha Graham masterpieces. The event is the nonprofit organization's largest annual fundraiser. 

New York Live Arts Presents Netta Yerushalmy's Epic Four Hour, Six Part Series

New York Live Arts (Live Arts) to present the New York premiere of Netta Yerushalmy's Paramodernities, March 14-17, 2019, having commissioned the work as part of the Live Feed Residency Program. The complete six-part encyclopedic series is a multidisciplinary work that weaves theory and performance into a four-hour-long hybrid event. Yerushalmy and a cast of 20 dancers and scholars, ranging in age from 20 to 68, perform deconstructed installments of Nijinsky's “Sacre” (1913), Graham's “Night Journey” (1947), Ailey's “Revelations” (1960), a mix of Cunningham works “Rainforest,” “Sounddance”, “Points in Space”, “Beach Birds”,  and “Ocean” (1968-1990), dance numbers from the 1969 Fosse's film “Sweet Charity”, and a response to Balanchine's “Agon” (1957) that includes none of the original choreography.

The Joyce Presents HUBBARD STREET DANCE CHICAGO

The Eli and Edythe Broad Stage in Santa Monica presents Ballet Hispánico (Eduardo Vilaro, Artistic Director & CEO) on March 22 and 23 at 7:30pm.  As America's leading Latino dance organization, Ballet Hispánico has been bringing individuals and communities together to celebrate and explore Latino cultures through dance for nearly 50 years. Ballet Hispánico will present its All-Latina Choreographers Program featuring Línea Recta, choreographed by Annabelle Lopez Ochoa; Con Brazos Abiertos, choreographed by Michelle Manzanales; and 3. Catorce Dieciséis, choreographed by Tania Pérez-Salas.

DANCE NOW Presents ZviDance In On The Road At Joe's Pub

As part of its Dance-mopolitan Featured Artist Series, DANCE NOW is pleased to present acclaimed choreographer Zvi Gotheiner's 2016 work On the Road, a multimedia dance piece inspired by Jack Kerouac's famed novel of the same name. Ruth Page Center For The Arts Announces  2019 Ruth Page Award Recipients

Venetia Stifler, executive and artistic director of the Ruth Page Center for the Arts and the 2019 Ruth Page Award Committee are pleased to announce their selections for this year's Ruth Page Awards. The recipients include Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and its Artistic Director Robert Battle and Chicago Dance History Project and its Executive and Artistic Director Jenai Cutcher.  The 2019 Awards will be presented immediately before Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's performance celebrating 60 years of Ailey Ascending and the 50th anniversary of the Company's first performance at the Auditorium Theatre, 50 E. Ida B. Wells Dr., Friday, March 8 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets to the 2019 Ruth Page Awards are $60 and include a private reception at 5:30 p.m. followed by the Ailey performance at 7:30 p.m.  This performance is part of Ravinia's annual Ruth Page Festival of Dance.  Tickets and event information is available at EventBrite.com.
