THE DAY Comes To Jacob's Pillow, July 31

Jacob's Pillow presents the highly-anticipated world premiere of THE DAY, featuring world renowned cellist Maya Beiser and legendary dancer Wendy Whelan with choreography by the groundbreaking postmodern dance artist Lucinda Childs and music by Pulitzer Prize-winning David Lang in the Doris Duke Theatre, July 31-Aug 4. Co-commissioned by Jacob's Pillow, the multidisciplinary work explores memory, life's journey, resilience, and survival of the soul through the shared language of music and dance. 

Gabrielle Hamilton, Tiler Peck & More Nominated For 2019 Bessie Awards

The NY Dance and Performance Awards, The Bessies, New York City's premier dance awards honoring outstanding creative work in the field, celebrates a landmark 35th anniversary this year. Today, the nominees for the 2019 Bessie Awards, along with the recipients of the 2019 Juried Bessie Award and 2019 Outstanding Breakout Choreographer Award, were announced and celebrated at the Bessies press conference. Ivy Baldwin Dance And Manitoga Present The Premiere Of QUARRY

On September 21 and 22, Ivy Baldwin Dance will present Quarry, a site-specific performance work at Manitoga, the former home and 75-acre woodland garden of the late American industrial designer Russel Wright. Quarry takes inspiration from Wright's desire to blur lines between outside and inside, nature and the man-made, and from his deep commitment to experimentation with form and material.

Afro-Latin Culture Tap Dances To Center Stage This Summer With Ayodele Casel

Ayodele Casel,a disciplined and brave performer who honors the roots of tap dance while pushing the boundaries of the art form, has been named a 2019-2020 Frances B.Cashin fellow at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University. Joining more than 50 incoming fellows as they pursue work across the sciences, social sciences, humanities, and art, Ayodele will direct her energy toward research and development of a new theatrical work inspired by the historical context of tap dance's cultural heritage.

The Royal Ballet Crafts Annual BALLET FESTIVAL At The Joyce

The Joyce Theater Foundation (Linda Shelton, Executive Director) is thrilled to announce the extraordinary line-up for its 2019 Ballet Festival, curated by Kevin O'Hare, director of The Royal Ballet, and other artists associated with the esteemed company from August 6-18 at The Joyce Theater. The celebration of classical dance will feature four distinct programs over two weeks starring such world-renowned ballet artists as Lauren Cuthbertson, Robert Fairchild, Joseph Gordon, David Hallberg, Sarah Lamb, Edward Watson, Maria Kowroski and more.

Radcliffe Institute Selects Tap Dancer Ayodele Casel As  2019–2020 Fellow

ACQUANETTA And GRACE AND MERCY Announced At Bard SummerScape

The 2019 Bard SummerScape festival presents a pair of important new dance and theater works next month. On July 5-7, Evidence, A Dance Company and its founder and artistic director, Ronald K. Brown, make their festival debut with the world premiere of Grace and Mercy. A new SummerScape commission, this two-part program pairs Grace (live), a 20th-anniversary version of Brown's soulful masterpiece Grace, now danced entirely to live music performed by Peven Everett, Gordon Chambers, and others, with the world premiere of Mercy, Brown's new companion piece, which is set to a brand-new score written and performed live by ten-time Grammy-nominee Meshell Ndegeocello.

The Joyce Presents Maria Kochetkova's CATCH HER IF YOU CAN

Internationally adored ballet star Maria Kochetkova will return to The Joyce Theater this summer with her own program, Catch Her If You Can, a Joyce Theater Production from July 16-21. Presented by The Joyce Theater Foundation (Linda Shelton, Executive Director), this culmination of Kochetkova's first year as an independent dance artist will feature both new works by emerging choreographers and pieces by renowned artists. Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts Announces its 2019 Festival Lineup

Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts (www.usdan.org), one of the preeminent nonprofit arts day camps in the country, today announced the Festival lineup for its 2019 Season, which kicks off on July 2. Curated by Usdan's Festival Artistic Director Jonathan Shmidt Chapman, the 2019 program consists of student performances as well as 14 different professional acts, representing genres from classical and pop music to dance, poetry, musical theater, and more.

10 Hairy Legs Presents 7th New York Season Celebrating WorldPride 2019

10 Hairy Legs, the male repertory dance company, holds its 7th consecutive New York Season with a return to New York Live Arts June 27-29. Presented are World Premieres by Larry Keigwin entitled Cruise Control and Adam Barruch. Barruch's work, entitled Heist will have a newly composed score by Roarke Menzies.

The Joyce Announces Fall 2019/Winter 2020 Season

 Linda Shelton, Executive Director of The Joyce Theater Foundation, announced today the New York City dance organization's programming for its Fall '19 Winter '20 season, the first in collaboration with The Joyce's new Director of Programming, Aaron Mattocks. With dance styles from contemporary and modern to street and social, and traditional movement from Argentina, India, Spain, Samoa, and beyond, The Joyce continues to lead the way in international dance presentations while nurturing and supporting artists from all disciplines at every stage of their careers. The New York City organization, one of the world's largest presenters of dance, is especially excited to announce that live music will be featured during each and every engagement from the start of the season through the end of 2019. Fall '19/Winter '20 at The Joyce will be a true celebration of diversity in dance with programs and styles that encompass the wide range of aesthetic interests of both its artists and audiences.

BalletX Announces 2020 Choreographic Fellow – Nicole Caruana

Christine Cox, Artistic & Executive Director of BalletX, proudly announces that Nicole Caruana is the recipient of the company's 2020 Choreographic Fellowship. With the program entering its 5th year, Caruana joins a growing list of BalletX Choreographic Fellows that includes Yin Yue (2016), Tommie-Waheed Evans (2017), Andrew McNicol (2018), and Katarzyna Skarpetowska (2019). John McFall, established choreographer and former Artistic Director of the Atlanta Ballet for twenty-one seasons, will serve as the 2020 Choreographic Mentor, providing direct support and guidance. Both fellow and mentor will present world premiere ballets on BalletX at Spring Series 2020 at The Wilma Theater, March 18-29, 2020. Matt Doyle and Melanie Moore to Reprise Roles in FREDDIE FALLS IN LOVE

Freddie Falls in Love, a joyously unrestrained and captivating dance play starring some of today's hottest performers from stage and screen, including Matt Doyle and Melanie Moore, will play a limited theatrical engagement this summer at The Joyce Theater. Presented by The Joyce Theater Foundation, the production, under the direction of Al Blackstone, will enjoy a two-week run from July 23-August 4.

Infinity Dance Theater And Alison Cook Beatty Dance Present GHOSTS IN THE MACHINE

Join Infinity Dance Theater and Alison Cook Beatty Dance for a dynamic performance at The Riverside Theatre featuring 24 dancers with and without disabilities. Infinity's first formal New York concert program was presented at The Riverside Theatre in 1997, so Infinity is thrilled to return to Riverside in 2019 for a full concert engagement with Alison Cook Beatty Dance. Alison Cook-Beatty, Founder and Artistic Director, has performed with the Paul Taylor Dance Company and Taylor 2, among other companies and choreographers in New York City. She has performed with Infinity Dance Theater at The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

Limon Dance Company Opens Tomorrow At The Joyce

Now in its 73rd year, the Limon Dance Company continues to garner fresh interest for its performances of both new works and American classics.  The May 29-June 2 season at The Joyce Theater will feature two Limon classics: The Moor's Pavane and Psalm, along with The Weather in the Room by company Artistic Director Colin Connor with guest artists Miki Orihara and Stephen Pier; and Radical Beasts in the Forest of Possibilities by guest choreographer Francesca Harper, with an original score composed and performed live by Nona Hendryx.
