The Joyce Theater Announces Its 2010-2011 Fall/Winter Season

The Joyce Theater will welcome an impressive roster of the world's most acclaimed dance companies for its 2010-2011 Fall/Winter Season, which will include several debuts and four international companies, all presenting U.S. premieres.

MOMIX Returns to the Joyce Theater 5/11-6/6

Moses Pendleton's wildly popular, internationally acclaimed MOMIX, a company that defies categorization as easily as its dancers defy gravity, will burst onto the stage of The Joyce Theater for an extended four-week engagement from May 11 - June 6.

ABT II To Perform at the Joyce Theater's 1.2.3. Festival 4/13-25

ABT II will present four performances in New York City as part of the 1.2.3. Festival at The Joyce Theater, April 13-25, 2010. The Festival's opening night performance, which includes works by Ailey II and Taylor 2, will be highlighted by ABT II's World Premiere of Ballo Per Sei, choreographed by Edwaard Liang.

Ailey II Takes The Stage at The Joyce Theater, 4/13-4/22

After performing for audiences in more than 30 U.S. cities over the past six months, Ailey II, the celebrated second company of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, will take the stage at The Joyce Theater as part of the 1.2.3. Festival from April 13-22. 'After being on the road for the majority of last year, the dancers absolutely love coming home to perform in the epicenter of the dance world,' Artistic Director Sylvia Waters says.

THE WHO'S TOMMY Comes To CRT, Runs 4/22-5/1

Storrs: Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT) will present the smash-hit Broadway Musical The Who's Tommy, April 22 - May 1, 2010 in the Harriet S. Jorgensen Theatre on the Storrs campus.

REDCAT Presents TRUTH, REVISED HISTORIES, WISHFUL THINKING..., 4/14-4/17

REDCAT is proud to present the West Coast premiere of Truth, Revised Histories, Wishful Thinking, and Flat-Out Lies, a new evening-length work for five performers by choreographer John Jasperse. The work features a commissioned score by composer Hahn Rowe, performed live by a string quartet from the International Contemporary Ensemble. Scenic and visual design is by Jasperse, with lighting design by Jasperse and Joe Levasseur. Presented by REDCAT, as part of the Sharon Disney Lund Dance Series, Truth will run at the Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater Wednesday, April 14, 2010 through Sunday, April 18, 2010.

2010 River To River Festival Unveils Lineup, Kicks Off 6/21

Offering something for everyone, the ninth annual River To River® Festival today unveiled a stellar line-up of free music, dance, and cultural events that firmly establishes Lower Manhattan as the city's summer arts capital.

Parsons Dance Seeks Male and Female Dancers, Auditions Held 5/27

Parsons Dance, praised around the world for its virtuosity, exceptional theatricality, athleticism, energy and accessibility, seeks a male dancer and a female dancer. Auditions will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2010 from 1-6pm at Manhattan Movement and Arts Center, 248 West 60th Street, NYC. Appointments are required for the audition and dancers must bring headshots and resumes.

BWW Review: Richmond Ballet At The Joyce

Five years after their original NYC debut, the Richmond Ballet has returned to the Joyce Theater. The show is broken into two programs, each consisting of six commissioned works. I was able to catch Program A, which features Artistic Director Stoner Winslett's 'Ancient Airs and Dances,' Jessica Lang's 'To Familiar Spaces In Dream,' and Mauricio Wainrot's 'Voyages.'
