Gotham Arts Exchange Presents Gotham Dance Festival, 5/30-6/10

Gotham Dance Festival returns for two weeks, presenting five programs that feature the work of more than ten choreographers, including a program celebrating the choreographic work of American women, both established and emerging talents. Parsons Dance Announces 2012 Annual Spring GALA, Paint It Red

Parsons Dance and Gala Chair Linda Stocknoff announce the company's 2012 Annual spring Gala, Paint it Red, honoring Nancy Browne, Parsons Dance friend and co-commissioner of 2011 premiere work Portinari, on Monday, April 16, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. at Espace. The evening will begin with cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, and silent auction at 7:30 p.m., followed by a dinner, live auction, and performance by Parsons Dance at 8:30 p.m., then a full night of social dancing. Joyce Theater Selects Pacific Northwest Ballet for Nureyev Prize

The Joyce Theater Foundation today announced the selection of Pacific Northwest Ballet as its second recipient of The Rudolf Nureyev Prize for New Dance, a $25,000 commissioning grant established for the purpose of creating new works from large ballet companies, many of whom rarely perform in New York. The prize allows companies accustomed to performing large scale work to create new pieces for a smaller venue. In turn, the award provides audiences with the opportunity to experience these companies in the Joyce's intimate setting.

Gideon Obarzanek's FAKER Plays Joyce SoHo, 4/25-29

Chunky Move's Gideon Obarzanek brings his innovative, provocative and unpredictable genre of dance to Joyce SoHo, with the New York premiere of Faker, described as 'a disarmingly personal solo work,' from April 25-29 and May 2-6.

The Joyce Announces $25 Tickets to Sylvie Guillem's 6000 miles away

The Joyce Theater Foundation today announced that, through a generous grant by MetLife Foundation, $25 tickets will be available to the upcoming American premiere of the Sadler's Wells London / Sylvie Guillem production of 6000 miles away at Lincoln Center's David H. RIOULT 2012 Season to Include Untitled Joan Tower Premiere and Stravinski's Firebird

RIOULT, an American modern dance company, announces their four-day 2012 NY Season at The Gerald W. Lynch Theater at John Jay College, May 10-12, 2012 with a family matinee May 13, 2012. The Season features the World Premiere of Artistic Director/Choreographer Pascal Rioult's new work, inspired by T.S. Eliot's The Waste Land with a commissioned score by Grammy-Winning composer Joan Tower. The World Premiere will be performed at each performance to live musical accompaniment with Joan Tower at the piano, and cellist Raman Ramakrishnan. The program also includes RIOULT's Firebird (2003) and Celestial Tides, which captivated audiences at its premiere at The Joyce Theater in 2011.

The Joyce Special Graham Company Celebration, 3/13-18

The Martha Graham Dance Company (Janet Eilber, Artistic Director; LaRue Allen, Executive Director) is having a special engagement at The Joyce Theater, NYC; March 13-18. Inner Landscape, the latest offering in the company's innovative series of thematic performances including contextual media and narration, features the acclaimed Graham psychological works in which she laid bare the human psyche. There will be two programs presented by the company as well as a Family matinee show on Saturday-March 17 at 2:00pm. New works by Lar Lubovitch and Yvonne Rainer premiere on March 13 and 15 respectively. Both programs will open with an abstract film montage which overlays excerpts of Graham dancing her psychological works with moments from psychological films of the same era.
