Ballet West and Lyon Opera Ballet to Receive Joyce Theater's Rudolf Nureyev Prize for New Dance

The Joyce Theater Foundation announces the selection of Ballet West and Lyon Opera Ballet as recipients of The Rudolf Nureyev Prize for New Dance, a $25,000 award established to support the commissioning of new works for large ballet companies, many of whom rarely perform in New York. The prize allows companies accustomed to performing large scale work to create new pieces for a smaller venue. In turn, the award provides audiences with the opportunity to experience these companies in The Joyce Theater's intimate setting. Previous recipients are Houston Ballet and Pacific Northwest Ballet.

Ronald K. Brown and Evidence, A Dance Company to Celebrate 30th Anniversary at The Joyce Theater, 2/24-3/1

Ronald K. Brown and Evidence, A Dance Company celebrate 30 years at the Joyce Theater, February 24 - March 1. Ronald K. Brown and Evidence, A Dance Company will usher in its 30th year with a company premiere, New York premiere, live music and revivals of classic works. The week-long run features two programs. Program A highlights include the powerful classic Grace and The Subtle One, danced to a suite composed and performed live by Jason Moran. Moran, score composer for the Oscar-nominated film “Selma” and Kennedy Center's Artistic Director for Jazz, will be joined by his band, The Bandwagon. Program B highlights include the NewYork premiere of Through Time and Culture, a solo by Brown, along with the company premiere of Why You Follow/Por Que Sigues.

The Joyce Theater to Welcome The Royal Ballet

The Joyce Theater Foundation presents the long-awaited NYC return of the UK's Royal Ballet – first time in over 11 years – at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center beginning with a gala performance on June 23, followed by two mix-billed programs of works by Frederick Ashton, Kenneth MacMillan, Wayne McGregor, Liam Scarlett and Christopher Wheeldon through June 28. Complexions Contemporary Ballet Coming to MPAC, 2/7

New York City-based Complexions Contemporary Ballet performs Innervisions, an upbeat modern dance tribute to the music of Stevie Wonder, as well as other works, when it takes the stage at Mayo Performing Arts Center on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 8 pm. Tickets are $29-49

Joyce Theater Welcomes The Royal Danish Ballet, Now thru 1/18

The Joyce Theater Foundation, Linda Shelton Executive Director, presents Principals and Soloists from The Royal Danish Ballet. With a program full of works choreographed by the historic 19th-century Danish choreographer August Bournonville, the company will be performing at The Joyce from today, January 13-18.

The Harkness Foundation for Dance to Distribute $5 Million in Grants

Over the next decade, The Harkness Foundation for Dance will contribute $1 million each to five organizations of prominent importance to the dance field. The grantees are the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), The Joyce Theater, New York City Center, the 92nd Street Y (92Y), and NYU Langone Medical Center's Hospital for Joint Diseases (HJD), which houses the Harkness Center for Dance Injuries which recently celebrated its 25th anniversary.

The Joyce Theater Presents NEDERLANDS DANS THEATER 2, 2/3-8

The Joyce Theater Foundation, Linda Shelton Executive Director,proudly presents Nederlands Dans Theater 2 (NDT2), returning to the Joyce after five years, from February 3 – 8. The program will include three works by NDT2 house choreographers Paul Lightfoot, Sol León and Johan Inger, and one by Sharon Eyal and Gai Behar of Israel. Ailey II Returns to the Joyce With New Independent Season, 3/17

Ailey II's "indefatigable, virtuosic, and relentlessly sexy" dancers (Los Angeles Times) return to The Joyce Theater from March 17 - 22with two programs of premieres and recent audience favorites. The Company's spring run at The Joyce will be the first time they will present an independent season at one of dance's most cherished and historic venues. During an eight-performance engagement, their "off-the-charts energy" (The New Yorker) will be amplified in diverse repertory by emerging and established choreographers, including Jennifer Archibald, Amy Hall Garner, Dwight Rhoden, Katarzyna Skarpetowska, Manuel Vignoulle and Ailey II's Artistic Director, Troy Powell.

The Joyce Theater to Present PARSONS DANCE, 1/21-2/1

Parsons Dance, under the artistic direction of David Parsons, will present a season full of premieres and favorites at The Joyce Theater from January 21 - February 1. New and celebrated American choreographers take center stage as Parsons Dance performs three New York City premieres by acclaimed American choreographers Robert Battle, Trey McIntyre and David Parsons, along with a world premiere from GenerationNOW fellow Natalie Lomonte. Stephen Petronio Company to Perform at The Joyce Theater in April 2015

The Stephen Petronio Company's 30th anniversary culminates in transformation: the launch of Bloodlines, a five-year project to incorporate dances by trailblazers of American postmodern dance into the Company's repertory and present them alongside new works by Stephen Petronio. The first season pairs RainForest, Merce Cunningham's iconic, 20th-century masterpiece, with Locomotor/Non Locomotor, Petronio's now complete two-part work.

Juilliard Dance's 2014-15 Season Opens with 'New Dances: Edition 2014' in December

Juilliard Dance, under the direction of Lawrence Rhodes, opens its 2014-15 season in December with New Dances: Edition 2014 featuring four world premieres by innovative choreographers: Juilliard alumnus Austin McCormick (1st-Year Dancers); alumna Loni Landon (2nd-Year Dancers); Kate Weare (3rd-Year Dancers); and Larry Keigwin (4th-Year Dancers). Mr. Keigwin is returning to Juilliard where he previously choreographed and premiered, in December 2008, Runaway, a large-scale piece that riffs on the high fashion runway scene, and, in December 2009, Megalopolis.
