Ten Star Award Winners to be Honored at SCERA's Annual Gala, 2/28

Those who have made significant contributions to the arts in a variety of categories will be recognized for their achievements in enriching the communities and citizens of Utah at the 10th Annual Star Awards held Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the SCERA Center for the Arts in Orem.

The Joyce Theater to Welcome Liz Gerring Dance Company & Dorrance Dance

The Joyce Theater Foundation, Inc. is proud to present two acclaimed companies who will make their Joyce debuts this spring: Liz Gerring Dance Company, from March 31 - April 2 with the New York premiere of the full evening-length work glacier; and tap sensation Michelle Dorrance's Dorrance Dance, April 4 and 5, with Toshi Reagon and BIGLovely in The Blues Project. The Joyce Theater to Present Salt Lake City's BALLET WEST, 3/25-29

The Joyce Theater Foundation, Linda Shelton Executive Director, presents the Salt Lake City-based ballet company Ballet West, currently in its 51st Anniversary Season, from March 25-29. Ballet West, making its Joyce debut with this engagement, will perform a mixed program of premieres by Val Caniparoli, Nicolo Fonte, Matthew Neenan and Helen Pickett. The Joyce Theater to Host Second Annual Joyce UNLEASHED in NYC

The Joyce Theater, under the executive direction of Linda Shelton, announces the second installment of Joyce UNLEASHED, a collection of cutting-edge performances presented outside its historic Chelsea home, taking place this March at New York Live Arts (219 West 19th Street, between Seventh and Eighth Avenues). On March 17, choreographers Netta Yerushalmy and Hillel Kogan will each present acclaimed works, and on March 20 and 21, the program will be an award-winning piece by Yossi Berg and Oded Graf. MASS MoCA and Jacob's Pillow to Present KEIGWIN + COMPANY, 4/11-12

Cultural partners Jacob's Pillow Dance and MASS MoCA present KEIGWIN + COMPANY, April 11 at 8pm and April 12 at 3pm at the Hunter Center. A favorite among dance audiences and critics, KEIGWIN + COMPANY will bring a mixed program of high art and pure entertainment, featuring a variety of diverse contemporary works that embody the company's signature wit, broad musicality, and profound emotional capacity. Annual co-presentations by Jacob's Pillow and MASS MoCA are made possible by the Irene Hunter Fund for Dance.

Auditorium Theatre, Ravinia Festival Co-Commission New Twyla Tharp Works

In a momentous co-commission, Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University and Ravinia Festival, will present two new works by world-renowned choreographer Twyla Tharp November 6 – 8, 2015. Celebrating 50 years of creating dance for both modern and ballet companies, television, Broadway and Hollywood, the program will be seen throughout North America during a 10-week anniversary tour to 15 cities, honoring Tharp's five decades of dance-making. The new works, each comprised of 12 dancers—many whom have worked with Tharp over the years—will have music by J.S. Bach, Henry Butler, Steve Bernstein and John Zorn.

Ballet Meets Flex Dance in SOMETHING SAMPLED at New York Live Arts, Now thru 2/14

Here they come! A new royal partnership is being forged: Michele Wiles, one of ballet's most celebrated Swan Queens, and Jay Donn, the reigning king of Punchlines, a form of Brooklyn-based flex dancing. The result is 'Something Sampled,' one of three world premieres on the boards for BalletNext's season, 'Baroque'd,' at New York Live Arts, today, February 10 through February 14.

Martha Graham Dance Company Kicks Off 'Shape&Design' Season Today

The Martha Graham Dance Company's Shape&Design theme explores Graham's defining influence as an American modernist with programs that feature the sculptural and architectural aspects of choreography by Graham and others. The Company's two-week season at The Joyce Theater in New York City, today, February 10-22, 2015, will offer Graham classics, new commissions, and premieres by guest choreographers in three varied programs. The Company's expansive 2014-15 season also includes a twenty-city U.S. tour, and several projects related to Shape&Design, including partnerships with the Museum of the Fashion Institute of Technology and the international art gallery Hauser & Wirth.

Complexions Contemporary Ballet Comes to MPAC Tonight

New York City-based Complexions Contemporary Ballet performs Innervisions, an upbeat modern dance tribute to the music of Stevie Wonder, as well as other works, when it takes the stage at Mayo Performing Arts Center tonight, February 7, 2015 at 8 pm. Tickets are $29-49

Robert Swinston's CNDC-Angers to Make U.S. Debut at Joyce Theater, 3/10-15

The Joyce Theater Foundation, Linda Shelton Executive Director, presents the U.S. debut of Le Centre National de Danse Contemporaine-Angers (CNDC) from March 10 – 15. For this highly anticipated debut, CNDC-Angers, under the artistic direction of former Merce Cunningham dancer and protégé Robert Swinston, will perform Event, a compilation of excerpts from pieces choreographed by Cunningham from 1965-1990. 10 Hairy Legs Coming to Crossroads Theatre, 3/29

Randy James' all male dance company, 10 Hairy Legs, returns to Crossroads Theatre, New Brunswick for its third consecutive appearance on Sunday, March 29 at 3:00 pm. Continuing to showcase the company's expanded repertory that explores the range of the male dancer, the performance will be followed by a Panel Discussion on the stage with Artistic Director Randy James, New Jersey choreographer Cleo Mack and Company Member Kyle Marshall. Tickets are $25 for Premium Seating Center Section and $22.50 for Seniors, $20 Adult Side Seating and $15 for students and children.

Houston Ballet Presents MODERN MASTERS 3/12-22

Ailey II Launches First Independent Season at the Joyce, 3/17

Ailey II's 12 "indefatigable, virtuosic, and relentlessly sexy" dancers (Los Angeles Times) return to The Joyce Theater from March 17 - 22 with two programs of premieres and recent audience favorites. The Company's spring run at The Joyce will be the first time they will present an independent season at one of dance's most cherished and historic venues. Dance Benefit DESTINY RISING to Feature Cedar Lake Ballet & More at The Joyce, 2/16

See some of New York City and the country's most renowned dance companies on Monday, February 16 at 7:30pm at The Joyce Theater (175 8th Avenue), where the NYC Dance Alliance Foundation will present DESTINY RISING, an incredible evening of dance artistry to benefit the NYC Dance Alliance Foundation College Scholarship Program (which to date has awarded $12.5 million in college scholarships to over 200 dancers all over the country). Featuring special performances from prominent professional dance companies from across the United States (plus outstanding NYC Dance Alliance alumni and NYC Dance Alliance faculty), some of the artists and companies taking part include Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet, the Intermezzo Dance Company, and Keigwin + Company. There will also be over $50k in college scholarships awarded the night of on 2/16.
