Jessica Lang Dance Receives $500,000 Gift From Ann And Weston Hicks

Jessica Lang Dance (JLD) announced today a significant donation of $500,000 from Ann and Weston Hicks. The Hicks' leadership gift is the largest single gift the organization has received to date. This gift supports the company's growth, capacity building and organizational development, as well as touring, artistic work, and performances. The donation also comes with a challenge to other supporters of JLD to match the Hicks' gift in order to achieve a $1 million fundraising goal by the end of 2018. Nearly half of the match has been raised within two months.

Celebrate Pride Week At The Joyce

The Joyce Theater Foundation, Inc. (Linda Shelton, Executive Director) is thrilled to join New York City's annual LGBTQ Pride festivities as an official partner with Pride Week at The Joyce, a presentation of two queer contemporary dance companies, MADBOOTS DANCE and Sean Dorsey Dance, performing in repertory from June 19-23. GALLIM Premieres New Work At The Met Breuer Tonight

The 2017-18 MetLiveArts Artist in Residence, the groundbreaking choreographer and artistic director Andrea Miller of GALLIM, closes her year-long residency with six days of a performative installation in the three gallery spaces of The Met Breuer. In collaboration with award-winning filmmaker Ben Stamper, composer Will Epstein, and fashion designer Jose Solis, GALLIM's dancers take over the Museum's fifth floor in the world premiere of (C)arbon, a work on the phenomenon of the body. Each of the three gallery spaces is dedicated to a distinct perspective on the anthropology of the body-as individuals, in dual relationships and in the social mass. (C)arbon can be experienced alongside the exhibition, Like Life: Sculpture, Color, and the Body at The Met Breuer.

Ford Theatres and The Big Show Co. Present the World Premiere of THE COLLECTIVE MEMORY PROJECT

The Ford Theatres, in association with choreographer/director Arianne MacBean and The Big Show Co., presents the world premiere of The Collective Memory Project on June 28 and 29 at 8:30 p.m., as part of its IGNITE @ the FORD! series. The Collective Memory Project is an original dance-theatre piece inspired by memories of U.S. military veterans, the performers and the audience themselves. The Australian Ballet Celebrates The Genius Of Its Dancemakers With VERVE, A Program Of Inventive Ballet

Celebrating outstanding Australian choreographic talent bursting from within the ranks of The Australian Ballet, Verve brings together three high-octane ballets created by past and present company dancers. Two landmark works by The Australian Ballet resident choreographers Tim Harbour and Stephen Baynes, and the world premiere of a new work by Coryphee Alice Topp will showcase The Australian Ballet's artistry and athleticism. The contemporary triple bill Verve will catapult onto the stage exclusively in Melbourne from 21 to 30 June.

10 Hairy Legs Debuts at Baryshnikov Arts Center for Sixth Consecutive New York Season

10 Hairy Legs, the all male repertory dance company, dèbuts at Baryshnikov Arts Center for its sixth consecutive New York Season for four performances June 7 -10. The program features World Premieres by Bessie Award Nominee and company member Nicholas Sciscione, and Yin Yue. Works by Al Blackstone, Raja Feather Kelly and Christopher Williams complete the program. Sciscione will perform his solo work and Ofer Pelz his original composition at all performances. Tickets are $25 for Adults and $20 for Students and Groups of 10 or more through 10HL.org.

The Center For Ballet And The Arts At NYU Announces 2018-19 Fellows

The Center for Ballet and the Arts at New York University (CBA), the first international institute devoted to the creation and academic study of ballet, today announced the 27 artists and scholars who will serve as CBA Fellows in the 2018-19 academic year. The group - which represents The Center's largest and most far-reaching cohort yet - features distinguished individuals in a range of disciplines, including scholar Cecile Feza Bushidi, lighting designer Brandon Stirling Baker, choreographer Chase Brock, choreographer, filmmaker, and dancer Pontus Lidberg, and scholar Janice Ross, among others.

Limon At The Joyce, May 8-13 - Season Includes Missa Brevis

The Limon Dance Company returns to The Joyce Theater with a major revival of Limon's magnificent 'Missa Brevis,' set to Zoltan Kodaly's Missa Brevis in Tempore Belli, and joined by international guest dancers Carolina Avendano and Terry Springer from Venezuela's CoreoArte and Kirsten Foote and Julian Nichols from Canada; Limon's 'The Unsung,' for an all-male cast; Artistic Director Colin Connor's new 'The Body is a House Without Walls,' for an all-female cast; and three short works commissioned by the Limon Company by exceptional young choreographers Rosie Herrera, Adam Baruch, and Yin Yue.  

Project Springboard Announces Winners of Second Annual Residency Awards

Mara Isaacs, Director of Project Springboard: Developing Dance Musicals, today announced the recipients of the second annual residency awards: Bhangin' It, led by Rehana Mirza (co-book writer), Mike Lew (co-book writer), Sam Wilmott (composer/lyricist), Rujuta Vaidya (choreographer), and Amy Anders Corcoran (director); and The Night Falls, led by Troy Schumacher (director/choreographer, New York City Ballet soloist), Ellis Ludwig-Leone (composer/co-lyricist), and Karen Russell (book writer/co-lyricist, MacArthur Award winner and Pulitzer finalist). Both projects will be in residence June 4-22, 2018 in New York City.

Nai-ni Chen Dance Company In Partnership With The National Park Service Presents The Second Imagine Ellis Island Arts Festival

The National Park Service in partnership with Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company presents the Ellis Island Asian American Heritage Festival on Sunday, May 6, 2018, with ceremony and performances starting at 12 noon at The Great Hall of Immigrationat Ellis Island, located on the second floor of the main Ellis Island building. A full schedule of performances and educational workshops given by notable speakers will celebrate the 2018 Asian American Heritage Month with National Park Service. The festival will showcase traditional and contemporary Asian American Music and Dance, with notable performing artists from the community in New York and New Jersey including the Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company, the Asian American Dragon and Lion Association (AADL), Kindling Sindaw (Philipines), Vietnam Heritage Center, the Kalagangothri Foundation (India), and H?lau Hula O Na Mele '?ina O Hawaii'(Hawaii).

Bard SummerScape Presents World Premiere of FOUR QUARTETS

75 years ago T.S. Eliot published Four Quartets, a poetic meditation on time and memory that is widely regarded as his crowning achievement. Now, to celebrate this milestone anniversary, Bard SummerScape 2018 presents the world premiere of Four Quartets, the first authorized dance performance ever to be based on Eliot's modernist masterpiece. A SummerScape commission, the new work is an interdisciplinary collaboration that draws on the talents of three of today's most potent artistic voices. Since making her acclaimed festival debut at SummerScape 2015, Pam Tanowitz has been recognized as "one of the most formally brilliant choreographers around" (New York Times), with honors including a Bessie Award, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and the prestigious 2017 Cage Cunningham Fellowship.
