Tickets for the West End production of Motown the Musical, opening at the Shaftesbury Theatre in February 2016, are released for sale today (15 May 2015). With music and lyrics from the legendary Motown catalogue and book by Motown founder Berry Gordy, Motown the Musical is directed by Charles Randolph-Wright. London previews will begin on 11 February 2016 with press night on 8 March 2016 with the show booking to 22 October 2016. Signature Theatre has announced a second one week extension for the world premiere of The Painted Rocks at Revolver Creek, written and directed by Athol Fugard. The production, which opened on Monday, May 11 and already extended once through June 7, will now run through June 14 in The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). KINKY BOOTS, the smash-hit musical that brings together four-time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein (Book) and Grammy Award-winning rock icon Cyndi Lauper (Tony Award-winner for Best Score for KINKY BOOTS), performs at the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) June 9-14, 2015. Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of Producing Artistic Director, Andre Bishop) has extended the run of its critically acclaimed production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's THE KING AND I, directed by Bartlett Sher, indefinitely at the Vivian Beaumont Theater (150 West 65 Street). In addition, the Ambassador Theatre Group and NETworks Presentations LLC will launch a national tour of the Lincoln Center Theater production, which was recently nominated for 9 Tony Awards including Best Revival of a Musical, in November 2016 in Providence, RI. The National Tour will play multi-week and single week engagements throughout the 2016-17 touring season and beyond. Producers Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig welcome back Tony Award-winner Billy Porter to Kinky Boots tonight, April 28. Porter will step back into the heels of 'Lola' after a three month hiatus. Kyle Taylor Parker, who took over the role in Porter's absence, will head back on the road to continue strutting his stuff as Lola in the First National Touring Production of Kinky Boots.
