THE DECLASSIFIED, THE ITTY BIDDIES, Community Sing and More Set for Carnegie Hall's Family Programs, March-April 2013

This spring, Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute (WMI) continues to bring outstanding live performances to community venues throughout the five boroughs of New York City with its free Neighborhood Concerts. For 37 years, the Carnegie Hall's Neighborhood Concerts have featured performances by top artists across multiple genres of music, including classical, jazz, and world music.

Louisville Ballet Stages ROMEO & JULIET at The Kentucky Center, 3/1-2

The Louisville Ballet brings to stage the timeless tale of Shakespeare's two young star-crossed lovers torn apart by a bitter feud in Romeo & Juliet. This rich adaptation of one of the most famous of romantic ballets comes to life in a beautiful and powerful rendition of the world's best-known love story. The production features music by Sergei Prokofiev and choreography by Alun Jones. It will be performed tonight, March 1 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, March 2 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. in The Kentucky Center's Whitney Hall.

Sean Shepherd Previews New Composition for St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble in OSL@DMC Series Today

Orchestra of St. Luke's (OSL) next free OSL@DMC event at The DiMenna Center for Classical Music will feature American composer Sean Shepherd previewing his new commission for St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble. Mr. Shepherd will share his thoughts, insights and inspirations, and members of OSL will play excerpts from his new composition. The world premiere of Mr. Shepherd's Quintet will take place at OSL's next chamber series program, entitled Spin Paris, March 3 - 8, 2013. This is his first composition for OSL.

Art of Time Ensemble Presents Gabriel Prokofiev: FROM CHAMBER TO ELECTRONICA, Feb 22-23

The inimitable Art of Time Ensemble kicks off 2013 by fusing the worlds of classical and electronic music together on stage in Gabriel Prokofiev. London DJ and composer Gabriel Prokofiev collaborates with Art of Time Ensemble to continue his grandfather Sergei's legacy of reinventing modern music in this dynamic concert, taking place tonight, February 22 and the 23rd.

St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble Will Present SPIN PARIS, 3/3-8

St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble will perform chamber works by three composers who defined French music at the turn of the 20th century, along with a world premiere from American composer Sean Shepherd. Mr. Shepherd is currently working on commissions for the Cleveland Orchestra as a Daniel R. Lewis Composer Fellow, as well as for Carnegie Hall and the New York Philharmonic. His new commission for OSL, Quintet, was inspired by a work of Sergei Prokofiev that was also composed for oboe, clarinet, violin, viola and contrabass and reflects the influences of 1920s Paris in Prokofiev's writing.

Pacific Northwest Ballet to Bring Balanchine and ROMEO ET JULIETTE to New York City Center, 2/13-16

New York City Center will present Pacific Northwest Ballet in its first full-company performance in NYC since 1996, February 13-16, 2013. PNB, celebrating its 40th Anniversary season, will present two programs featuring a mixed repertoire of Balanchine ballets and Jean-Christophe Maillot's full-length Roméo et Juliette. The troupe will be accompanied by the PNB Orchestra, led by Music Director and Principal Conductor Emil de Cou.
