RDT's Ring Around the Rose season continues with another unforgettable, interactive experience with REPERTORY DANCE THEATRE on February 10 in the Jeanne Wagner Theatre at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center.

Jonathan Hollander and Battery Dance Festival will include five Denishawn dances on the Battery Dance Festival performance of August 17th.  The evening celebrates early modern dance and also includes works by Isadora Duncan and in the style of Loie Fuller.

Battery Dance will celebrates the 42nd Anniversary of its free summer festival from August 12-18, 2023, in partnership with Battery Park City Authority. The 42nd Annual Battery Dance Festival will feature in-person and live-streamed performances staged each night at Rockefeller Park, Battery Park City, New York City at 7PM ET, with a rain date on 8/19.

In the fourth week of Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival 2023, crowd-favorite Dorrance Dance returns July 19-23. The week will also feature several performances on the outdoor Henry J. Leir Stage, including Seán Curran Company & Darrah Carr Dance on July 19-20, a world premiere by Mythili Prakash on July 21, and The School at Jacob's Pillow on July 22. Tickets for all performances are now on sale.

Battery Dance will celebrate the 42nd Anniversary of its free summer festival from August 12-18, 2023, in partnership with Battery Park City Authority.

The season features premieres, favorites, and a “greatest hits” retrospective of Robert Battle’s choreography. Battle 10th Anniversary is a sample platter of current Artistic Director River Battle’s decade in that role. Like a master chef, the selections of his dance offerings spanning ten years are palatable and varied yet complimentary. 

HENNING RÜBSAM, choreographer and artistic director of SENSEDANCE, will teach a dance history/appreciation course for the general public on “ICONIC DANCE PARTNERSHIPS”.

Los Angeles-based CONTRA-TIEMPO will perform on the Henry J. Leir Stage during the second week of Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, fusing Salsa, Afro-Cuban, hip-hop, and contemporary dance into a theatrical performance titled joyUS justUS, from July 7-11.

'Modern Dance 101,' a program of rarely seen works by Ruth St. Denis and Ted Shawn, regarded as the Mother and Father of American Modern Dance, will be presented September 30-October 3, 2021 at the Theatre at St. Jeans, 150 East 76th Street, NYC.

Jacob’s Pillow has announced the full artist line-up for its 2021 summer Festival—the first to feature both onsite and online programming. Onsite events run June 30-August 29, with online streaming through September 23.

Today Jacob’s Pillow has announced plans to host a multi-platform virtual and on-site Festival in 2021, undertake substantial renovations to the Ted Shawn Theatre, and complete Vision ’22, a five-year strategic plan established in 2017.

The New York Public Library of the Performing Arts has acquired the archive of Martha Graham, one of the most significant and influential voices of the modern dance movement.

Paul Taylor Dance Company returns to Philadelphia to celebrate the extraordinary legacy of dance icon Paul Taylor, presented by the Annenberg Center and NextMove Dance, Friday, January 24 (8 PM), and Saturday, January 25 (2 and 8 PM). In honor of Taylor's wide-ranging and expressive repertoire, 'one of the most exciting, innovative, and delightful dance companies in the entire world' (The New York Times) will perform a program of his masterpieces, including Syzygy, Sunset and Piazzolla Caldera. The Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts is launching into Leap Year with 23 dazzling shows, concerts and special events for every entertainment preference, from classical music to Broadway razzle dazzle, including the return of Michael Feinstein and the Kravis Center Pops Orchestra, the 13th annual Palm Beach Wine Auction Dinner & Live Auction, and the local premiere of HAMILTON, the biggest blockbuster of the past decade.

Celebrating the centennial of the Nineteenth Amendment granting women the right to vote; assembled and produced by Deborah Brockus, artistic director of the annual Los Angeles Dance Festival. Deborah Brockus has assembled another TKO of a presentation.  This time at the aesthetically invigorating and lovely renovated Ford Theatre; originally entitled, prophetically first named, The PILGRIMAGE Theatre.  It was an enlivening evening from start to finish.  Ms. Brockus is a hands-on participant, besides organizing, directing, choreographing and publicizing and cheerleading all involved, she was there to greet the theatre goers and anyone coming to support and witness this celebration.  Take note of her tenacity and perseverance.  

Gallim makes its Ted Shawn Theatre debut with a Pillow co-commissioned world premiere, August 7-11. In 1944, a young music librarian named Genevieve Oswald at The New York Public Library argued that dance materials didn't fit well into the Music or Theatre archives, and should be collected separately and differently. What she created was one of the first archives devoted entirely to dance, originally called the Library's Dance Collection, and now known as the Jerome Robbins Dance Division. In the 75 years since its creation, the Dance Division has become the world's preeminent collection of dance research materials, and an invaluable resource to students, practitioners of all levels, researchers, writers, enthusiasts and artists. Chronicling the art of dance in all its forms, the Division acts as much more than a library. It preserves the history of dance by gathering diverse written, visual, and aural resources, and works to ensure the art form's continuity through active documentation and educational programs.

Dancer/choreographer Deborah Zall, a well known dramatic dancer and choreographer trained at the Martha Graham School passed away of pneumonia on December 11th in New York City.
