As previously announced, The Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs will celebrate the 23rd Annual MAC Awards on Monday, May 18th at 7:30pm at B.B. King Blues Club (237 West 42nd St, Between Broadway 8th Avenue). This year's performers/presenters include Polly Bergen (Recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award), Klea Blackhurst, Tyne Daly, Karen Mason, Marilyn Maye, John McDaniel, Rex Reed, Steve Ross, and Julie Wilson among others.

Multiple Drama Desk and Tony Award winning actor/writer Harvey Fierstein was host for the 54th Annual Drama Desk Awards ceremony. BroadwayWorld's cameras were there for the post-awards celebration in the press room.

The 54th Annual Drama Desk Awards were held, Sunday, May 17, 2009 in the LaGuardia Concert Hall at Lincoln Center. Drama Desk nominees received their official Nomination Certificates at a cocktail reception on Friday, May 1st at Il Bastardo restaurant, 191 Seventh Avenue (between 21st and 22nd Streets).

Tonight the Nightlife and Bistro Award-winning Metropolitan Room, 34 West 22nd Street, celebrates its third anniversary, most suitably, with a special one-night engagement starring Billy Stritch, who opened the room on May 11 in 2006.

The 92nd Street Y continues the 2009 season of Lyrics & LyricistsTM with THE MAN GOT AWAY: IRA AFTER GEORGE. The show spotlights the hits - including 'Long Ago and Far Away,' 'The Man That Got Away,' and 'My Ship' - lyricist Ira Gershwin wrote with composers such as Jerome Kern, Harold Arlen and Kurt Weill, among others.
