MCC THEATER today announced The Carrie Anticipation Contest: Why Are You Excited About Carrie?. Theater fans all around the world are encouraged to submit a video explaining why they are excited for what is shaping up to be the most anticipated theatrical event of the season: MCC's upcoming production of Carrie. From all the submitted videos, one winner will win a pair of VIP tickets to MCC Theater's Opening Night performance and after-party on March 1, 2012. According to the Chicago Trinune, THE ADDAMS FAMILY, which will close on Broadway later this month, will return to Chicago next week, and audiences should expect a reworked show. Creator Rick Elice said of the harsh critical response for the Broadway production: "It was difficult to get past that at the outset. To be told that this was the worst musical of the past 40 years. Really? That vitriol was part of my energy for reinvestigating the show."

The Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park has announced casting for the exciting new revival of MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG by Stephen Sondheim and George Furth. The John Doyle-helmed production, in which the actors also serve as the show's musicians, runs March 3 through March 31, 2012 in the Playhouse's Robert S. Marx Theatre.

Laura Benanti's concert in Long Island this weekend focused on family, intertwined with antidotes about her career on the stage, in TV (or lack there of, she joked), and in movies. The Tony winner was fantastic as she took the stage at Landmarks' beautiful Jean Rimsky Theater in Port Washington, Long Island.
