FST Hosts 2014 Young Playwrights Festival Ceremony Tonight

The plays are here! Florida Studio Theatre's 2014 Young Playwrights Festival has begun. Plays from over 3,000 playwrights were received from all over Florida and across the globe. FST is proud to announce that the winning plays of the Under Six and Seven Up programs have been selected. The winning playwrights will be honored tonight, May 10th at the Young Playwrights Festival awards ceremony.

Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival Programming Announced

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust announces the full complement of programming scheduled to be presented at the 55th annual Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival, a production of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust. The 10-day celebration of the arts in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is unlike any other in the nation. The world-class, multi-disciplinary festival is free to attend and is open to the public. Attracting over 400,000 visitors annually, the Festival begins on the first Friday in June and takes place at the confluence of Pittsburgh's famed three rivers in Point State Park, throughout picturesque Gateway Center, and in the city's world-renowned Cultural District.

Photo Flash: First Look at Brown/Trinty Rep's THE TOOTH OF CRIME & STONE COLD DEAD SERIOUS

The Brown University/Trinity Rep MFA Programs proudly present two raw and devastatingly humanistic plays running in repertory this May. Sam Shepard's poetic and psychedelic rock and roll drama The Tooth of Crime, directed by Dan Rogers (Brown/Trinity Rep MFA Programs '15), and Adam Rapp's surreal and dark new-age comedy, Stone Cold Dead Serious, directed by Flordelino Lagundino (Brown/Trinity Rep MFA Programs '15). Performances of both plays run through May 18 in the Pell Chafee Performance Center, 87 Empire Street, Providence. THE NIGHT MARKET: EAST MEETS WEST Set for Vegas Uncork'd by Bon Appetit, Now thru 5/11

In a unique cross-cultural culinary exchange, a team of acclaimed chefs from Japan, China, Singapore and Australia are teaming up with American culinary luminaries Mario Batali, Daniel Boulud, Thomas Keller, and Buddy Valastro to create THE NIGHT MARKET: EAST MEETS WEST, an authentic Asian-inspired outdoor food and beverage festival.

Towne Street Theatre continues bringing books to life with its Literary Reading Series. This month's selection is Justice Served by Lonikaye Harkless. Ripped from the headlines in 1960's South Carolina, this intricate tale is based on a true story of love, prejudice, infidelity and...murder.

RLTP's Buffalo Young Writers Night to Spotlight Local Student Playwrights, 5/21

Road Less Traveled Productions (RLTP) will present its fifth annual Buffalo Young Writers Night on Wednesday, May 21 at The Road Less Traveled Theater at the Market Arcade Film & Arts Centre. Doors open at 7:00 pm with performances beginning at 7:30 pm. The evening will feature winners of the 2014 Buffalo Young Writers contest (or BYW), recognizing outstanding student playwrights in the WNY area. RLTP launched its Buffalo Young Writers contest in the fall of 2009 by giving high school and college student writers and playwrights the opportunity to submit their work for the chance of a professionally produced presentation.

Ballet San Jose Announces International Tour of CARMEN with Natalia Osipova and Ivan Vasiliev, 7/25-8/9

Ballet San Jose Artistic Director José Manuel Carreño has announced that the Company has been invited to tour with celebrated former Bolshoi Ballet starsNatalia Osipova and Ivan Vasiliev in performances in Southern California, Moscow and London this summer. The tour repertoire will feature Osipova and Vasiliev's debuts in Roland Petit's Carmenwith Ballet San Jose with the balance of the program comprising pas de deux to be performed by the former Bolshoi artists. Performances will be given July 25-27 at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa, CA; July 31 and August 1-3 at the Stanislavsky Theatre in Moscow, Russia; and August 6-9 at the London Coliseum in London. PICT Theatre Opens Season with BLITHE SPIRIT Tonight

PICT Theatre's Artistic and Executive Director Alan Stanford has selected a bold assortment of classic plays for PICT's 18th season, Something Wicked This Way Comes. Each play contains its own version of wickedness, with the Noel Coward classic Blithe Spirit opening the season tonight, May 3rd (May 1 and 2 previews.)

Shakespeare Theatre to Open 2014 Season with THE TEMPEST, 5/28-6/22

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey's 52nd Season opens with The Tempest, Shakespeare's final great work. Performances begin May 28th and continue through June 22nd at the F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre, 36 Madison Ave. (at Lancaster Road) in Madison. Individual tickets are now on sale and can be purchased by calling the Box Office at 973-408-5600 or by visiting www.ShakespeareNJ.org. Performances are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays at 7:30 p.m.; Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m.; and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. Individual tickets range from $15 to $75.

SO MUCH TO TELL YOU Comes to Garrick Theatre, Now thru May 17

A FAMOUS young adult novel, inspired by a true story, comes to the Garrick Theatre stage this May. Written by John Marsden and directed by Gail Lusted, So Much To Tell You focuses on the 14-year-old Marina who withdrew into silence after she received a facial disfigurement in an accident.
