Exploring the struggle between the individual and the state, this elegant tragedy about tyrannical power and civil disobedience is considered to be Sophocles' masterpiece and has become synonymous with political protest.

THIS IS ALL I NEED, BLOCKBUSTER SEASON and More Set for Mugwumpin's 10th Anniversary

Marking its 10th anniversary this year, San Francisco's adventurous, award-winning theater ensemble Mugwumpin is pleased to announce a series of celebratory performances and special events, including the revival of This is All I Need (2010) and Super:Anti:Reluctant (2006), and the world premiere of Blockbuster Season. Mugwumpin's two remounts will take place at The Costume Shop at A.C.T., today, June 19 - July 13. Blockbuster Season opens in previews at Intersection for the Arts on September 18. Mugwumpin is also proud to announce Luster, a month-long engagement in August with the Asian Art Museum, which has commissioned the company to create a performance installation in collaboration with photographer Pak Han.

San Francisco's cutting-edge Cutting Ball Theater proudly announces the lineup for its 16th season. The main stage season opens in November with the World Premiere of SUPERHEROES, written and directed by Sean San Jose (Campo Santo), followed by Sophocles' ANTIGONE in February, directed by Cutting Ball Associate Artistic Director Paige Rogers, in a new translation by Daniel Sullivan. Cutting Ball presents the World Premiere of resident playwright Andrew Saito's MT. MISERY in May. RISK IS THIS...THE CUTTING BALL NEW EXPERIMENTAL PLAYS FESTIVAL returns in May to round out the season with five new works, including two new plays from resident playwright Andrew Saito, in staged readings that push the boundaries of what theater can be. In addition to the main stage season, Cutting Ball Theater continues its Hidden Classics Reading Series with five new installments. The entire 2014-15 season will be staged in San Francisco at the Cutting Ball Theater in residence at EXIT on Taylor (277 Taylor Street at Ellis). Single tickets on sale August 1. A KILLER STORY Opens 4/12 in Berkeley

The Marsh Berkeley presents a night of mystery, mayhem, and cold-blooded murder with the World Premiere of A KILLER STORY, written by Dan Harder and directed by Michelle Haner. A KILLER STORY is a fast-paced, entertaining 'noir' tale about a tough, bright sleuth who outsmarts everybody, including himself as he attempts to find a missing scientist who is on the verge of creating the revolutionary/evolutionary 'brain chip.'

Mark Jackson's SALOMANIA Closes Season at The Aurora Theatre, Now thru 7/22

Workshopped and developed at Aurora in 2010, SALOMANIA features Madeline H.D. Brown (Metamorphosis), Mark Anderson Phillips (Small Tragedy), Alex Moggridge (Betrayed), Liam Vincent (California Shakespeare Theater), Anthony Nemirovsky (Awake and Sing!), Marilee Talkington (Crowded Fire), and Kevin Clarke (Shotgun Players). SALOMANIA plays tonight, June 15 through July 22 at the Aurora Theatre in Berkeley.
