Battery Dance will celebrates the 42nd Anniversary of its free summer festival from August 12-18, 2023, in partnership with Battery Park City Authority. The 42nd Annual Battery Dance Festival will feature in-person and live-streamed performances staged each night at Rockefeller Park, Battery Park City, New York City at 7PM ET, with a rain date on 8/19.

The 2023 multiple Grammy and Academy Award nominee DIXSON releases the music video for “ONLY-1.” The visual is from his explosive critically acclaimed EP 004DAISY. Dear Readers, I’m going to set the “Way Back Machine” to 2011 where I was first introduced to the works of playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney as the Seattle Rep had produced his stunning “The Brothers Size”, a show that hit me so hard in the gut that I think about it to this day. And while I was still reeling from it in 2012, he presented his astounding “Choir Boy” at the Royal Court Theatre in London. Eventually it made its way to Broadway in 2019 to a huge outpouring of critical acclaim. Sadly, I missed that run but then ACT announced they would be bringing it to Seattle … in 2020. Yup, you guessed it. It didn’t happen then thanks to the pandemic. But now, thanks to the theatre gods, ACT, in conjunction with the 5th Avenue Theatre, have made good on their promise of presenting this amazing work and let me tell you, it was worth the wait.

The New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) announced its upcoming 2022-23 season of dance including several anniversary celebrations and world premieres. The fall season begins with two shows melding dance and jazz music: famed Newark-born tap artist and dancemaker Savion Glover collaborates with jazz vocalist Dee Dee Bridgewater (Nov 12)  followed by new works by New Jersey-based Carolyn Dorfman Dance featuring a live performance by renowned jazz violinist Regina Carter (Nov 16).

ACT - A Contemporary Theatre and The 5th Avenue Theatre announced complete cast and creative team for their 10th co-production together, the tender yet invigorating coming-of-age play with music, Choir Boy.

The DCPA Theatre Company has announced the full casting and creative team for Tarell Alvin McCraney’s Choir Boy in the Kilstrom Theatre running April 22 through May 29, 2022. 

American Repertory Ballet (ARB) celebrates its spring season finale at the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center, June 3rd - 5th, 2022, with Movin' + Groovin', featuring world premieres by three of today's most exciting and innovative choreographers.

Carolyn Dorfman Dance will return to SOPAC ((South Orange Performing Arts Center) for a spectacular evening of dance on Saturday, April 23, at 8:00 p.m.
