For the first time in nearly 15 years the Broadway production of Rent will not be playing anywhere in North America, when The Broadway Tour of the landmark musical closes in Sacramento, CA on February 7, 2010.

On Monday, January 18, the Broadway at Birdland series presented 'Wordland: A Night Without Ballads. Except For One. Maybe,' celebrating the lyrics of Amanda Yesnowitz. Lyricist Yesnowitz was joined by Broadway stars Chip Zien, Ann Harada, Noah Weisberg, Kate Reinders, Katie Clark, Courtney Balan, Lauren Kennedy, Farah Alvin and Carlos Encinias.

It is about Christians, Comanches and Texas Rangers; killing and heartbreak and heroes; and how Quanah came to lead his people from the prairie to The White Man's Road.

The Broadway Tour of Rent provides Toronto audiences with a fairly close facsimile of the true original - as opposed to the hand-me-down tours that have previously played the city. The show, however, remains problematic.

RENT: The Broadway Tour has had a very successful run for the past year, and is quickly coming to an end. The tour arrived in Toronto on the 12th of January, receiving rave reviews and filling the seats of the Canon Theatre with eager fans, excited at the chance to see Original Broadway Cast Members Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp reprise the roles they first played over thirteen years ago on Broadway. Shortly after arriving in Toronto, Adam Pascal took some time to talk with BWW about what life on tour has been like for him, and about what is in store for the future.
