And, BroadwayWorld got an umpteenth shout-out!
I woke up early to watch the Tony nominations. The categories & nominees were announced so fast I could barely register the names, much less process a reaction or live tweet my thoughts! Now that I've had a couple of days to consider the list, here are my very preliminary thoughts about each of the main categories. (Part 1 of 2!)
The cast recording of the 2012 Broadway revival of James Lapine's new production of ANNIE will feature three bonus tracks by Glee star and replacement Miss Hannigan Jane Lynch in addition to showcasing original revival Hannigan Katie Finneran.
The power may have been lost at McKinley High on FOX's hit musical dramedy series Glee last night, but there was no shortage of mega-wattage musical magnificence to set the night alight anyway - particularly for the Broadway babies among us, given the major tributes to A CHORUS LINE and ANNIE. Yes, indeed, 'Lights Out' was Glee at its very best. Oh, yeah - and Frida Romero, too (you read that name right)!

Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Glee has become an eye-roll, a voice-crack, a televised wagging finger - and largely to its own doing. The current season, which has split its ridiculously sized cast into two completely different storylines, has reached a disjointed juncture: too many characters, not enough screen time.

Today BroadwayWorld is thrilled to present an exclusive world premiere track from this week's episode of GLEE, 'Lights Out', featuring Sue Sylvester herself - aka Jane Lynch - offering up her version of ANNIE's classic 'Little Girls'.
A FUNNY GIRL theme and returning guest star Idina Menzel? What more could any self-respecting Broadway baby - or, better yet, gleek - possibly ask for in an episode of GLEE 4.0? Well, last night, we got some out of control college antics - including hallway oil slides and the “Harlem Shake” in a fountain - sage wisdom via Coach Beiste (Dot Marie Jones) and Mr. Schue (Matt Morrison) and even an original tune by AVENUE Q's Tony Award-winning Jeff Marx, to name but a few fabulous features of the show. Yes, last night's GLEE was a continued effortlessly fun frolic and easy, breezy ride in the ever-entertaining musical series, acting as a sweet salve to last week's heart-stopping school shooting and ensuing Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) drama.
FOX confirms exclusively to BroadwayWorld that Jane Lynch will be performing ANNIE's iconic Miss Hannigan anthem 'Little Girls' on next week's episode of the hit musical dramedy series, 'Lights Out'.
In a statement to Hollyscoop, Jane Lynch addressed her place on Glee following the firing of her character, Sue Sylvester, during last week's episode, 'Shooting Star'. There is speculation that Lynch might not return next season, especially with her forthcoming role as 'Miss Hannigan' in Broadway's Annie this summer.
Astrology, action and ardent love anthems populated last night's GLEE, highlighted by some of the most heart-pounding and heart-breaking moments shown this season thus far - seemingly shocking school shooting paramount among the surprising sequences and harrowing shocks that punctuated the slow-burner that heralded GLEE's eleventh-hour return (after a few weeks off) with a bang.
