Musical writers from all over the world are converging on downtown Fort Worth for the first IN-PERSON Musical Writers Festival. They have gathered over 70 of DFW's best talent to showcase their new works - most never heard by an audience!

Eden Espinosa, Joshua Henry, and Megan Hilty will raise the roof with a program specifically curated by The Soraya which include songs from the late Stephen Sondheim’s Sunday in the Park with George and Company, plus numbers from Wicked, Hamilton, Carousel, and more.

The Public Theater just kicked off the 16th annual UNDER THE RADAR FESTIVAL last night, January 8. This popular and highly-anticipated festival of The Public's winter season will include artists from across the U.S. and around the world, including Australia, Chile, China, Japan, Mexico, Palestine, Taiwan, and the U.K. Curated by UTR Festival Director Mark Russell, this year's UNDER THE RADAR FESTIVAL continues to expand to venues throughout New York City, in addition to The Public Theater's home at Astor Place.

Sometimes theatre can go very wrong for a lot of reasons. The audience are required to take a leap of faith, suspend their belief, and put their trust in the performers on stage. Some shows require a lot from the people who watch them, some don't. Land Without Dreams demands a level of openness that it's never able to fulfill. The piece works well on paper. On stage, not so much. Besides making a bunch of promises that aren't kept, the piece is, regrettably, inconclusive and inconsequential.

As part of the Gate's 40th Anniversary season, Artistic Director Ellen McDougall is continuing the venue's renowned reputation for championing European Theatre with rare opportunity to see the best of Danish theatre in a mini-showcase.

Mandy Gonzalez will 'take a break' from playing Angelica Schuyler in Hamilton on Broadway for a rare Southern-California appearance at the Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts (The Soraya) on Saturday, October 26 at 8pm.  Gonzalez will perform hits from Wicked, Hamilton, and more.

The quirky off-Broadway hit musical Little Miss Sunshine's UK tour heads to Theatre Royal Brighton from Tue 11 - Sat 15 June.

On April 23rd, the New-York Historical Society's latest installment of the Bernard and Irene Schwartz Distinguished Speakers Series showcased An American Soldier, a two-act opera composed by Huang Ruo, featuring a libretto by David Henry Hwang, in the Robert H. Smith Auditorium at the New-York Historical Society, 170 Central Park West, New York, NY 10024.

PILOT, an innovation initiative of the National Association of Broadcasters(NAB), has selected the five finalists of the first-ever PILOT Pitch Prize Competition. Finalists will compete in a live business-plan pitch event at NAB Show New York on October 17 at 3 p.m. at the Javits Convention Center.

Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) is proud to present METLab's Plays in Progress: A Festival of New Play Readings. Now in their fourth year of Plays in Progress, METLab once again offers regional playwrights an opportunity to present staged-readings of their selected work. Of the over 100 submissions reviewed, seven were chosen to be featured in this year's Festival of New Play Readings. The festival includes six nights of new play readings on the MET's mainstage, and one evening of four short plays at The Main Cup in Middletown as part of their "Coffee House Series".

Polly Stenham's updating of Strindberg's Miss Julie moves the action to contemporary London, and finds both contempt and sympathy for this new version of the idle rich. But, shorn of its 19th-century context, the play struggles to make the class transgression feel dangerous, nor does this 85-minute piece dwell long enough on subjects like racism or sexism.

Miss Julie finds a new home in contemporary London. Wild and newly single, Julie throws a late night party. In the kitchen, Jean and Kristina clean up as the celebration heaves above them. Crossing the threshold, Julie initiates a power game with Jean. It descends into a savage fight for survival.

The Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC) announces the cast and creative team for Hamlet, directed by STC Artistic Director Michael Kahn and featuring acclaimed actor Michael Urie as the tortured Danish prince. Shakespeare's most celebrated tragedy will run January 16-February 25, 2018 at Sidney Harman Hall.

The Shakespeare Theatre Company announces an extension of Shakespeare's Hamlet directed by Michael Kahn and featuring Michael Urie in the titular role. The production will now play through March 4, 2018, at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW).
