Shakespeare & Company's Northeast Regional Tour of Shakespeare is now on the road. This year, the Company's Tour brings two Shakespeare productions, Othello, the Moor of Venice and A Midsummer Night's Dream, to over 20,000 students. The Tour visits 75 schools throughout the Northeast in nine different states including; Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Maryland. Jazz at Lincoln Center proudly announces the 15 finalist bands that will compete in the 23rd Annual Essentially EllingtonHigh School Jazz Band Competition & Festival - one of the most innovative jazz education events in the world - at Jazz at Lincoln Center's home, Frederick P. Rose Hall, on May 10 - 12, 2018. The following finalists are among 109 high school jazz bands across North America that entered the competition. Each school submitted recordings of three tunes performed from charts from Jazz at Lincoln Center's Essentially Ellington library. Over 4,600 high school bands are members of Jazz at Lincoln Center's 2017-18 Essentially Ellington program and benefited from free charts and resources. (more...)

WAM Theatre embarks on its ninth season with the announcement of two new members of the WAM Leadership Team and three new members of its Board of Directors. Talya Kingston has been named Associate Artistic Director, and Max Galdos-Shapiro will join WAM as General Manager. Together with Artistic Director Kristen van Ginhoven and Philanthropy and Outreach Coordinator Gwendolyn Tunnicliffe, they comprise the leadership team at WAM Theatre. Metallica appeared for the first time ever at Comic-Con in San Diego yesterday, July 19, to promote their new 3D feature film METALLICA THROUGH THE NEVER. All four members of the band -- James Hetfield (vocals, guitar), Lars Ulrich (drums), Kirk Hammett (guitar, background vocals) Robert Trujillo (bass, background vocals) -- along with actor Dane DeHaan (The Amazing Spider-Man 2), director/writer Nimród Antal (Predators, Kontroll) and producer Charlotte Huggins (Journey to the Center of the Earth) attended the H Hall panel. The group debuted the trailer for the film and performed a private concert at the convention, and you can watch it all below! (more...)

Shakespeare & Company's groundbreaking Shakespeare in the Courts program, which leads adjudicated young people in an exploration of Shakespeare's plays, is celebrating its 13th year. The program, which runs in both North Adams and Pittsfield, was launched in 2001 with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, and is generously supported this year by Massachusetts Cultural Council's YouthReach Initiative; Berkshire Life, A Guardian Company; Berkshire County District Attorney's Office; The Cultural Council of Northern Berkshire; and the Charles H. Hall Foundation. Led by S&Co.'s expertly trained arts educators, Shakespeare in the Courts program is a challenging, inspiring, and often revelatory program.
