Diablo Theatre Company will launch the holiday season with the East Bay premiere of "Irving Berlin's White Christmas" in a fully-staged sparkling production that will run for eight performances beginning Nov. 26 at the Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek.

The American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) announced today that Artistic Director Diane Paulus, Pulitzer prize-winning writer Suzan-Lori Parks, and two-time Obie winner Diedre Murray have been chosen by the Gershwin Trusts and the Heyward Trust to re-imagine the Gershwins' seminal American opera Porgy and Bess.

Leading the cast of this heartwarming family classic, in the role of Bob Wallace, is veteran actor John Scherer. We caught up with John during rehearsals for the show (the production opens its holiday tour in Atlanta) to talk about his career, playing an iconic role, and the magic of this holiday classic.
