In celebration of Black History Month 2010, The Working Theater Mark Plesent, Producing Director, will present award-winning Broadway star André De Shields performing his solo work-in-progress entitled Mine Eyes Have Seen The Glory: From Douglass to Deliverance for 12 performances only from Thursday, February 4 through Sunday February 14 at the Abingdon Theater, 312 West 36 Street. Conceived, researched and written by Mr. De Shields, Mine Eyes is directed by Alfred Preisser.

The Working Theater (25th Anniversary Season), Mark Plesent Producing Director, is pleased to announce a special addition to the Friday, February 12 performance of Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory: from Douglass to Deliverance, created and performed by Andre De Shields. In honor of the 201st anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birth, the Working Theater is honored to exhibit important original historic documents penned by Abraham Lincoln and the great emancipator Frederick Douglass (portrayed by De Shields).

Saturday Night Live stars and writers including Seth Meyers, Fred Armisen, Will Forte, Jason Sudeikis, Abby Elliott, Bridey Elliott, Jorma Taccone, Colin Jost, Hannibal Buress, and more will come together on Sunday, January 31 to perform a ONE NIGHT ONLY event: 'BEYOND FUNDERDOME COMEDY BLOWOUT!'

Indiana University Bloomington will celebrate Black History Month with a diverse calendar of events, including a Feb. 10 lecture by Marc Lamont Hill and a Feb. 25 performance by the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company.

Itzhak Perlman, the undeniable reigning virtuoso of the violin, brings his award-winning performance to Mesa Arts Center Wednesday, January 20, at 7:30 p.m.

"The Golden Gays", this fall's runaway hit Drag Musical Spoof and Tribute is back in 2010 with their first tour. Along with the tour comes some exciting additions. Vic Carmona will play the twisted Therapist who suggests "Drag Therapy" to his 4 patients and sets up the original plot for this new tribute. In addition to the LifeGroup Los Angeles, the show will add some other charities including the Aids Assistance Program ( Palm Springs), and Certified Humane (Humane Farm Animal Care Nationwide). The show runs in Los Angeles for six performances only: January 22nd,23rd,24th, 29th, 30th, and 31st. It then moves on to Palm Springs for 3 performances February 5th, 6th and 7th. If there is one person who thinks his Kennedy Center honor is merited it is Mel Brooks himself. Said the funny-man in a recent interview with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette of his recognition,'I agree 100 percent...I am a national treasure, I SHOULD be celebrated.
