For ten days only, from February 10-20, 2012, Chicago's Millennium Park will be transformed into a digital canvas of light and geometrical form when it unveils Luminous Field, its first-ever site-specific video and sound installation by the Chicago-based artists, Luftwerk.

Culture Project Presents 'And God Created Great Whales,' Beginning 2/7

Now considered a prominent venue for award winning theatre, Culture Project had its humble beginnings in a former piano manufacturing factory on East 91st Street. It then moved to a lumberyard at 45 Bleecker Street which it converted into a two-theater performing arts center with Bombitty of Errors and And God Created Great Whales as its initial attractions. Now Culture Project has officially returned to 45 Bleecker making it its permanent home, and will present And God Created Great Whales, the innovative piece that launched the Culture Project into prominence over a decade ago.

The Harris Theater for Music and Dance concludes its 2011-2012 Family Series and celebrates Black History Month with Afro-Beats!, a festive and interactive performance perfect for the whole family onSaturday, February 25, 2012 at 2:00 pm. Join the Fulcrum Point New Music Project, dancer Idy Ciss, saxophonist Jim Gailloreto, Morikeba Kouyate on the kora, and students from the Fulcrum Point Sound Tracks program as they explore the rich rhythms, sounds and images of West Africa in this 75-minute multimedia performance. Children of all ages are invited to participate in drumming circles, traditional African dances, and soulful songs in this spirited performance which features works by Fela Kuti, Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane, Steve Reich, and traditional music from Mandingo and African-American cultures.

Charlotte Street Presents BLACK THORNS IN THE WHITE CUBE, Opening 1/20

Black Thorns in the White Cube is an original exhibition presenting a selection of photography, prints, drawings, and artist books by eight contemporary artists who are influenced by the heavy, dark, and mystic obscurity of Black Metal music. Following its debut in Kansas City, January 20-March 3, 2012, the show will travel to Western Exhibition in Chicago, IL.

SECOND CITY PSYCHASTHENIA Opens 1/12 at Andrea Meislin Gallery

In Second City Psychasthenia curator Daniel Bauer presents eight artists who met in a City Within a City, at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where Bauer is an Assistant Professor in the Photography Department.

SoHo Rep And The Play Company Presents THE UGLY ONE

After nearly 100 productions of the play around the world, including two by the Royal Court Theatre in London, Soho Rep and The Play Company, in association with John Adrian Selzer, will present the New York premiere February 1-26, 2012.
