The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) will begin previews tonight, May 28 for THE COMEDY OF ERRORS, the first show of The Public's 2013 season of free Shakespeare in the Park at the Delacorte. Directed by Daniel Sullivan, THE COMEDY OF ERRORS will feature Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Hamish Linklater as Dromio and Antipholus respectively and will run through Sunday, June 30. According to a notice from the Public Theater, no performance will be canceled before 8:30pm, even if it's raining. A performance might be delayed, but will perform if and when possible and safe for the actors.

This summer, all performances for THE COMEDY OF ERRORS and LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST, A NEW MUSICAL will begin at 8:30 p.m. with running times of approximately 90 minutes, no intermission.

The world premiere of Rocky took place November 18 in Hamburg under the direction of PETER AND THE STARCATCHER Tony nominee Alex Timbers. It will transfer to Broadway in Feburary 2014. Check out the pre-Broadway commercial below!

Kathy Evans, Founder and Executive Director, announced the nine musicals and eighteen writers selected for the third summer of the Rhinebeck Writers Retreat. For nine consecutive weeks beginning June 23rd, each writing team will have an individual weeklong residency in Rhinebeck, New York to write their musical. All costs are fully funded by donors including The ASCAP Foundation, The Dramatists Guild Fund, and The Noel Coward Foundation. Writers include Tony-winners and nominees Duncan Sheik (Spring Awakening), and Heidi Rodewald and Stew (Passing Strange), and multi-award winners Adam Gwon, Laura Harrington, Joe Iconis, Kait Kerrigan, and Brian Lowdermilk.

Written by Elice and directed by Tony Award-winner Roger Rees and Tony Award-nominee Alex Timbers, Peter and the Starcatcher officially began performances at New World Stages (340 West 50th St.) on Monday, March 18, 2013, after ending its triumphant run on Broadway at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on Sunday, January 20, 2013. Due to overwhelming demand, The Public Theater announced a final four-week extension for the critically acclaimed world premiere musical Here Lies Love, with concept and lyrics by David Byrne, music by David Byrneand Fatboy Slim, additional music by Tom Gandey and J Pardo, and choreography by Annie-B Parson. Directed by Alex Timbers, Here Lies Love officially opened on Tuesday, April 23 and has been extended a fourth and final time to Sunday, July 28.

The second show of The Public's free Shakespeare in the Park season, LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST, A NEW MUSICAL, directed by Alex Timbers, with songs by Michael Friedman and book adaptation by Alex Timbers, will begin previews on Tuesday, July 23 and run through Sunday, August 18, with an official press opening on Monday, August 12.
