This week Friday, April 6th, 2018 Harbinger Records is releasing CY COLEMAN A Jazzman's Broadway (Jamaica, Flower Drum Song, South Pacific) HCD 3401. Harbinger loves composer/jazz pianist Cy Coleman. In fact, they have undertaken an entire series of CDs devoted to his vast musical talents. The first Coleman CD was a companion to the first biography on Cy, You Fascinate Me So (an overview of rare songs by Coleman with as disparate a bunch of lyricists as Carolyn Leigh, Dorothy Fields, Floyd Huddleston, A.E. Hotchner, and even comic Allan Sherman). The CD got rave reviews and opened many musical theatre aficionados to the depth of his composing skills. (more...)

COCA to Offer Summer Teen Arts Intensives at Washington University, 6/2-13

COCA has a long history of offering creative arts experiences to children and teens throughout the summer at its facility in University City and at Whitfield School in Creve Coeur. This summer, for the very first time, teens interested in intensive experiences in ballet, musical theatre, photography and theatre design won't have to rub shoulders with their pint-sized counterparts. St. Louis is home to dozens of theatre companies, most of which have the same problem; finding a venue in which to perform. The Black Rep, which utilized the Grandel Theatre for many years, is now faced with this same issue. But, thankfully, they were able to find space at Washington University, using the A.E. Hotchner Studio Theatre for their latest presentation, playwright Danel Beaty's one-man show, EMERGENCY. For this particular show they've found a perfect fit.
