This April, the Brooklyn Museum launches the Android version of its ASK Brooklyn Museum app, which enables visitors to interact in real time with Museum experts. The app sets a new standard in museum visitor engagement by leveraging technology to encourage dialogue between visitors and the Museum's Audience Engagement staff, a dedicated team of experienced art historians, researchers, and educators. The app is funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies through its Bloomberg Connects program, a global initiative that helps cultural institutions innovate and engage audiences through digital platforms.

The Brooklyn Museum will launch a three-year program enabling visitors to utilize their mobile devices to interact in real time with Museum experts.

The Brooklyn Museum has announced the selection of five Brooklyn artists whose work will be featured in GO: a community-curated open studio project. The exhibition will open on December 1, 2012, at the Museum's Target First Saturday evening of free art and entertainment, and will be on view through February 24, 2013. The artists selected are Adrian Coleman, Oliver Jeffers, Naomi Safran-Hon, Gabrielle Watson, and Yeon Ji Yoo.

Members of the public will nominate the artists whose work will be considered for GO: a community-curated open studio project, an upcoming exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum, by registering online to vote beginning today, and by visiting artist studios during the GO open studio weekend on September 8-9, 2012. 1861 Brooklyn-based artists will open their studio doors in 46 of Brooklyn's 67 neighborhoods, covering Brooklyn's 73 square miles.

The Brooklyn Museum is launching a borough-wide initiative in which Brooklyn-based artists will be invited to open their studios, allowing community members to visit and nominate artists for inclusion in a group exhibition to be held at the Museum.

Split Second: Indian Paintings, a small installation of ten rarely seen works from the Brooklyn Museum collection, on view July 13 through December 31, 2011, will result from a unique online experiment that was inspired by Malcolm Gladwell's critically acclaimed book Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking.

Open every Thursday evening until 10 p.m. since last October, the Brooklyn Museum will enhance its Thursdays @ 7 programming this fall to better meet the needs of visitors who work during the day.

During July and August the Brooklyn Museum will present a variety of public programs for adults, including a jazz concert featuring Winard Harper (pictured) produced in conjunction with WBGO, a yoga series, a screening of the film Yogawoman, and a creative art making session for adults with Sandy Patangay on the art of henna.

Brooklyn-based artist Valerie Hegarty has created a limited-edition, exhibition-quality print inspired by an Asher B. Durand landscape in the Brooklyn Museum collection that will be available through the online gallery www.20x200.com and at the February 6 Target First Saturday to new and renewing members of the Brooklyn Museum's socially networked Membership tier known as 1stfans.
