The highly anticipated Gift of Fire, tells of Japan's little-known attempt to build an atomic bomb in the waning days of WWII and screened in theaters across Japan in August. Gift of Fire will run in Los Angeles at the Laemmle Glendale from November 19th - 26th, with 2 special screenings on November 18th at the Laemmle Playhouse and the Royal. The film will also screen at the Clinton Street Theater in Portland on November 26th. Most recently the film the Grand Jury Prize for the Best Narrative Feature at the Awareness Festival in Los Angeles.

Gift of Fire will screen at the 12th Annual Awareness Film Festival on Friday, October 22nd, 9:00PM, at Regal Cinema at LA Live, 1000 Olympic Blvd. A Q&A will follow with the film's producer, Ko Mori.

The 15th Asian Film Awards (AFA15) announced the winners in 18 categories tonight at a much-anticipated ceremony hosted by the Asian Film Awards Academy (AFAA) in conjunction with the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), at the Paradise Hotel Busan.

The film was written and directed by Hiroshi Kurosaki (Goldfish (aka Hi No Sakana) and 2011’s Second Virgin).

According to Variety, the National Society of Film Critics has announced the winners of their 2019 awards.

 The 30th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) announced that the festival's opening night will be the screening of All is True directed by Kenneth Branagh on Friday, January 4.  The festival will close with Ladies in Black, directed by Bruce Beresford on Sunday, January 13. The Festival will screen 223 films from 78 countries, including 48 premieres (4 World, 13 North American and 31 U.S.) from January 3-14, 2019.  The line-up includes a focus on cinema from France, India and Mexico, Premieres, Talking Pictures, Book to Screen, Special Presentations, FLOS: Foreign Language Oscar Submissions, Gay!La, Local Spotlight, Modern Masters, True Stories, World Cinema Now, a 30-film retrospective of selections from past festivals (free screenings sponsored by Desert Care Network and National Endowment for the Arts), and more.

This morning, Film Independent announced the nominations for the 2019 Film Independent Spirit Awards.
