Queens Theatre will mark its first in-person play readings since the start of the pandemic with two evenings of performances. 'SHORTS! An Evening of Short Plays' on Saturday, November 6th at 8 PM ET and 'MORE SHORTS! Another Evening of Short Plays' on Saturday, December 4th at 8 PM ET.

Queens Theatre marks its first in-person play readings since the start of the pandemic with two evenings of performances. SHORTS! An Evening of Short Plays on Saturday, November 6th at 8 PM and MORE SHORTS! Another Evening of Short Plays on Saturday, December 4th at 8 PM feature plays written and directed by artists who identify as Asian.

Origin Theatre Company presents the North American premiere of the internationally acclaimed Swedish novelist and playwright Jonas Hassen Khemiri's "The Hundred We Are."  The fascinatingly timely memory play's limited Off-Broadway engagement performs at the cell, 338 West 23rd Street, from Wednesday March 16 to Friday April 8, with an Off-Broadway opening on Monday March 21 at 8pm.

Playwrights Theatre Artistic Director Named 2012 Individual Artist Fellowship In Playwriting


The New Jersey State Council on the Arts awarded the 2012 Individual Artist Fellowship grants totaling $182,600 to 22 New Jersey artists selected from more than 300 applicants in the categories of crafts, sculpture, photography, playwriting and poetry. John Pietrowski, Artistic Director for Playwrights Theatre, was named a winner in the playwriting category. The public meeting to announce the awards was held today at the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey in Summit.

Featuring star-studded casts, a diverse group of both celebrated and emerging playwrights, a team of professional directors, and an accomplished design team, this year's New Play Festival will perform for one-night-only at New World Stages (340 West 50th St., NYC). The festival is presented in honor of Support Women Artists Now Day/SWAN Day (www.SwanDay.org), an annual celebration of the diversity, beauty and power of women's creativity. Proceeds from the festival will benefit the League of Professional Theatre Women, in its mission of promoting visibility and increasing opportunities for women in the professional theatre.
