The New Wolsey Theatre has announced the cast and creatives for its new production of Patrick Marber's West End smash-hit drama, The Red Lion, directed by Artistic Director/Chief Executive Douglas Rintoul. The production plays the New Wolsey Theatre from 7-23 September 2023, and Queen's Theatre, Hornchurch, from 26-30 September 2023.  

Queen's Theatre Hornchurch will open its Spring 2022 season with a stunning revival from Director Douglas Rintoul of Arthur Miller's moving and powerful landmark drama All My Sons 10 February – 5 March, before playing at the New Wolsey Theatre Ipswich 8 – 12 March.

The internationally renowned Galway International Arts Festival, Ireland, took the difficult decision, due to the ongoing impact of Covid-19, to move for this year from its usual July dates to September 2021.

Enda Walsh returns to the Brooklyn waterfront theater to direct the American premiere of his searing, critically lauded new play Medicine, with a star-studded cast led by Domhnall Gleeson and including Clare Barrett, Aoife Duffin, and percussionist Seán Carpio, November 11 - December 5.

Carlo Albán, Ashleigh Castro, Marcello Cruz, Arthur Darvill, Lesley Lemon, Giselle Martinez, Racheal Ofori, Genevieve O'Reilly, Golda Rosheuvel and Rick Warden have been cast in the world premiere of Rare Earth Mettle written by Al Smith and directed by Royal Court Associate Director Hamish Pirie. With set design by Moi Tran, lighting design by Lee Curran, composition by Pablo Drexler, sound design by Helen Atkinson, movement direction by Yami Löfvenberg, dialect coach Kara Tsiaperas and assistant direction from Camila Ymay González.

Enda Walsh and Cillian Murphy team up again after a streak of collaborations started with Disco Pigs that saw them working together on award-winning and career-defining productions throughout the years. Now, they bring Grief is the Thing with Feathers to the Barbican after it first premiered in Galway last year.

It seems ironic--to me at least--that New York's venerable City Opera would be returning to life at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Rose Theater, just as the “Prototype: Opera/Theatre/Now” festival was finishing up its run at alternative venues in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Prototype “unleashed a powerful wave of opera-theatre and music-theatre from a new generation of classical and post-classical composers and librettists”--their words, not mine, but I won't dispute it--while City is doing a warhorse.
