The Royal Court Theatre announced the launch of Living Archive, their first ever standalone online archive. The digital archive holds information on every play which has ever been presented on the Royal Court stages from when it opened its doors in 1956 to the present day, totalling almost 2000 works by over 1000 writers. 

Produced by Access All Areas, a theatre company led by disabled and autistic performers, Imposter 22 thrusts questions about disability centre stage. It’s exuberant, bombastic, and undeniably well-intentioned, but good intentions are not enough to make good theatre.

The Royal Court Theatre, in collaboration with Access All Areas, has announced the initial casting for Imposter 22 by Molly Davies (God Bless the Child, A Miracle). The production has been created from an original idea by neurodivergent Royal Court Associate Director Hamish Pirie, and is a co-creation with seven learning disabled and autistic artists who also perform in the piece.

Rare Earth Mettle doesn’t need any more publicity. Headlines started talking about Al Smith’s play before its previews were cold in the grave, and reviews have flocked in agreement of its generally disappointing outcome. An exploding controversy, a hasty statement from the top floors of the Royal Court, and even quicker name-change later, the production remains a cutting critique that unfortunately loses itself in its search for style and forceful sarcasm.

Carlo Albán, Marcello Cruz, Arthur Darvill, Jaye Griffiths, Lesley Lemon, Racheal Ofori, Ian Porter and Genevieve O'Reilly have been cast in the world premiere of Rare Earth Mettle written by Al Smith and directed by Royal Court Associate Director Hamish Pirie. With set design by Moi Tran, lighting design by Lee Curran, composition by Carlos Gutiérrez Quiroga, sound design by Ella Wahlström, movement direction by Yami Löfvenberg, dialect coaching by Carter Bellaimey and assistant direction from Camila Ymay González.

The Royal Court Theatre announces A Year Of Work September 2019 - August 2020.

With a full programme for 2019 set to be announced in February, Norfolk & Norwich Festival have today announced some of the first shows to go on sale for next year's Festival. The 2019 Festival will once again take place over 17 days, this year from 10 - 26 May, with artists from around the world and the region presenting a huge variety of work and events throughout the city and around the county. Last year around 60,000 people attended the Festival's multi-artform programme of music, theatre, literature, visual arts, circus, dance and outdoor arts across East England.

After successful UK and international tours taking in a host of high-profile London venues including the Barbican and the Royal Court, and a Scotsman Fringe First Award-winning run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Shon Dale-Jones, Artistic Director of Hoipolloi Theatre, performs two shows at HOME, The Duke (Wed 6/Thu 7 June) and Me & Robin Hood (Fri 8/Sat 9 June).

It is directed by Royal Court Associate Director Hamish Pirie. Thomas Eccleshare's play will be performed in the Jerwood Theatre Downstairs Saturday 7 April 2018 - Saturday 19 May 2018.

Fascinated by war's absurdity, playwright and documentary filmmaker Liwaa Yazji started journaling into her notebook all that she saw around her. Armed combat, civil war and terror it's these painful details that form a part of everyday life for people in Syria.

Ali Barouti, Ishia Bennison, Carlos Chahine, Amir El-Masry, Souad Faress, Amer Hlehel, Ethan Kai, Khalid Laith, Adnan Mustafa, Isabella Nefar, Farshid Rokey and Sirine Saba have been cast in the world premiere of Goats, written by Liwaa Yazji and translated by Katharine Halls.

Royal Court Theatre announces new season of work. The programme includes five world premieres, five international playwrights from Argentina, Chile, Syria, Ukraine & US, the return of a landmark Royal Court play, a body of work in Tottenham and Pimlico, series two of Playwright's Podcasts and a major 5 year scheme for 25 trainees funded by The Sackler Trust.

Following the success of 2016 Fringe First award winning The Duke, Hoipolloi's Shon Dale-Jones returns to Edinburgh with the second in a series of solo shows as he celebrates the 20th anniversary of his Edinburgh Festival Fringe debut.

TORN and FATHER COMES HOME FROM THE WARS (PARTS 1, 2 & 3) will play at the Royal Court Theatre in September 2016. Torn explores a family broken by secrets and the scars left of things left unsaid. Father Comes Home From The Wars (Parts 1, 2 & 3)tackles the legacy of slavery in the US and its influence on the African-American experience.

Following Open Court in 2013, when the writers had the keys, this time the Royal Court has handed the keys of the building to the theatre's Youth Board and 10 young writers aged 15 - 24. Over the next three weeks they are in charge and they will be tackling the issues that matter to them through theatre, music, installations, talks and workshops.

Natalie Dew, Ian Gelder, Stella Gonet, Lisa McGrillis, Sargon Yelda and Ashley Zhangazha have been cast in Stef Smith's new play Human Animals. Rehearsals start on 18 April. Human Animals runs from 18 May 2016 to 18 June 2016 in the Jerwood Theatre Upstairs. Press night is on Monday 23 May, 7pm.
