Sondheim's macabre musical Sweeney Todd, arrives in Brazil. The show opened on March in Sao Paulo for a short season and takes place on the 033 Rooftop of Teatro Santander. With direction by Ze Henrique de Paula, the Brazilian production stars Rodrigo Lombardi (Sweeney), Andrezza Massei (Mrs. Lovett), and Mateus Ribeiro (Tobias Ragg).

1973 sah der amerikanische Komponist Stephen Sondheim die Bearbeitung des Dramas «Sweeney Todd, the Barber of Fleet Street» von George Dibdin Pitt aus dem Jahre 1842 und wagte sechs Jahre spater eine Musical-Version als Thriller. Das Schauerliche verband er dabei mit komodiantischem Witz und liebreicher Musik zu tiefschwarzem Humor. Die Premiere fand vergangenen Samstag am Theater Luzern statt, wo weitere Vorstellungen noch bis Februar 2016. Und das hatten die Kritiker zu sagen:
