Not About Heroes premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe 35 years ago. This extraordinary play is set at Craiglockhart Hospital in 1917, where two poets bonded over a mutual hatred of war and love of poetry. When staged by the same director at Theatr Clwyd, the production won Best Actor at the Wales Theatre Awards for Daniel Llewelyn Williams, who reprises his role as Sassoon alongsideIestyn Arwel as Owen.

Llewelyn-Williams is captivating, and a great storyteller.

Set in the sprawling urban slums of the South Wales docklands at the turn of the last century; a coming of age story about a young boy from the docks who idolises Houdini and commits himself to a life of magic, but the harsh reality of working-class life in Edwardian Britain gets in the way. A tenacious dreamer, he trains himself to emulate his hero's escapology amongst the mud and rust of his industrial surroundings, charming those hard-working realists around him but putting himself and others in danger as he becomes more dettached from reality. His parents struggle to come to terms with their son's eccentricity and our boy struggles in the mud and the filth to, not only achieve his dream of becoming an escapologist, but to survive, in a ruthless Edwardian dock town. As he grows our boy finds himself an integral part of the most terrifying events of British industrial history and his personal journey even intersects with the world's greatest showman himself. A connection which will influence both characters till the end of their days. With his hero's guidance, he battles against the irrepressible tide of responsibility, to balance childhood folly and humanity with the cynicism of adulthood.

Theatr Clwyd Artistic Director Tamara Harvey today announces the full casting for Edmond Rostand's Cyrano de Bergerac which also features new Welsh poetry from Twm Morys. Steffan Rhodri leads the all-Welsh company in the role of Cyrano, with Sara Lloyd-Gregory as Roxanne and Marc Rhys as Christian, alongside Wayne Cater, Steven Elliott, Victoria John, Rhys Parry Jones, Daniel Llewelyn-Williams, Gwawr Loader, Sion Pritchard, Aled Pugh, Simon Holland Roberts and Dafydd Llyr Thomas.

Based on John Buchan's 1914 spy thriller The Thirty Nine Steps and adapted for the stage by Patrick Barlow (Desmond Oliver Dingle/The National Theatre of Brent), The 39 Steps is directed by Maria Aitken, with design by Peter McKintosh, lighting by Ian Scott, sound by Mic Pool, and movement by Toby Sedgwick. The 39 Steps is presented by Edward Snape for Fiery Angel and Tricycle London Productions with the West Yorkshire Playhouse. From an original concept by Simon Corble & Nobby Dimon.

The 2009 production of Hello, Dolly! won three Laurence Olivier Awards at this year's ceremony, taking awards for Best Musical Revival, Best Actress in a Musical (Samantha Spiro) and Best Theatre Choreography (Stephen Mear).
