Cortland Repertory Theatre Downtown, located at 24 Port Watson Street in Cortland, will present the Central New York debut of Jefferson McDonald's Great Balls of Fire, an exciting and electric tribute created and performed by a former CRT performing intern who has toured the world with this concert event. 

Opera Saratoga's America Sings recital series continues with a unique spin - passing the mic to young artists from The Juilliard School.

The popular Nordic Summer Jazz Series returns to Scandinavia House this June and July, with performances from some of the most talented young jazz musicians, composers, and singers from the Nordic countries!

This month, see a lineup of classic and contemporary award-winning Danish films, including recent Academy Award winners and nominees and a celebration of Danish silent cinema! All films will screen in Victor Borge Hall at Scandinavia House (58 Park Avenue, NYC). Screenings will be presented with English subtitles.

Broadcaster/journalist/philanthropist Arlene Herson will be honored at a Silent Auction on March 22nd.  The event, which will take place at Boca Raton's Gallery 22, will be co-sponsored by the gallery and YI Love Jewish.  The proceeds from the auction will benefit YI Love Jewish' mission to fight antisemitism through the arts.

New Nordic Cinema returns this season to Scandinavia House with in-person screenings of award-winning contemporary film from each of the Nordic countries, as well as the Sámi Film Festival taking place as a must-see hybrid event in February!

This fall, see live performances from some of the top contemporary Nordic folk and jazz artists at Scandinavia House! This season's lineup brings folk artists from Finland to Sweden to Denmark for evening concerts in Victor Borge Hall, plus a special showcase of Finnish singer/songwriters with Finlandia Foundation New York in October.

The University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) has announced the selection of the nationally recognized firms Little Diversified Architectural Consulting, based in Charlotte, and Steinberg Hart, based in Los Angeles, as the design team that will lead Phase One of a multiphase, comprehensive renovation of the historic Stevens Center in downtown Winston-Salem.

Bill Acosta was known as the Man of 1,001 voices, headlining on the stages on the Las Vegas Strip, including the Luxor and Flamingo, and thousands of performances in many other venues. Bill passed away on Jan. 26, and a celebration of his life will be held at the Italian American Club on March 26.

Music on Park Avenue is back! The popular series hosted by Scandinavia House and Per Tengstrand will welcome its audience back to Victor Borge Hall this Spring. The chamber music group Opus @ Princeton University will accompany Tengstrand for these shows.

Back in September, I saw an announcement on social media that AJ Holmes (apologies, Broadway's AJ Holmes) would be performing a solo show at the SoHo Playhouse. As an admirer of AJ's work who had some time to kill after class one night, I decided to pay the show a visit. After all, the show's blurb claimed that I was going to be hearing about 'the worst, most embarrassing, humiliating, potentially irredeemable parts' of someone I had been a fan of for many years - Who wouldn't want to see something like that? But as I took the subway down to the theater, I couldn't help but wonder what AJ was going to talk about. What had he done? Would I still admire him after the show had ended? Who exactly was AJ Holmes?

ELIZABETH IRELAND McCANN, the iconoclastic Broadway producer who won nine Tony Awards during a 60-year career in theater, died after a bout with cancer on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, according to her longtime associate and friend, Kristen Luciani.  She was 90 years old.
