For the holiday season, 4th Wall Theatre Company (formerly Stark Naked Theatre Company) brings love and laughter to Houston audiences with Shakespeare's beloved romantic comedy, Much Ado About Nothing. Widely considered to be one of Shakespeare's best comedies, Much Ado is a delightfully hilarious and witty tale of love, friendship and intrigue. Scott Burkell's updated version of HO HO HUMBUG packs laughs and heartwarming moments in his most recent trimmed down version of this original Christmas comedy. Stark Naked produced the World Premiere last year and yielded mixed reviews. I wanted to see last year's performance of HO HO HUMBUG, but am now glad I waited for this one-act 90-minute version directed by Stark Naked Artistic Directors Kim Tobin-Lehl and Philip Lehl. The show opened on December 3rd and performances will run through December 23, 2015.

Back by popular demand, Stark Naked Theatre spreads a hearty dose of holiday cheer with a new 90-minute, no-intermission version of Ho Ho Humbug that is even faster and funnier than before.

Girls Night: The Musical by Louise Roche will run tonight, February 11 - March 22, 2015, playing Wednesdays & Thursdays 7:30p, Fridays & Saturdays 8:00p and Sundays 3:00p at Stages Repertory Theatre, 3201 Allen Parkway. Mitchell Greco (Xanadu, Life Could Be a Dream) directs.

Bayou City Concert Musicals will present the 2015 Kim Hupp Award to veteran Houston Producer/Actress Mitzi Wayne Weiss as part of its fundraising event, Something Wonderful: The Music of Rodgers & Hammerstein, at 7:30 p.m., tonight, January 24, 2015, at the Cullen Performance Hall of The University of St. Thomas, 4001 Mt. Vernon.

Just as exciting as the annual summer concert presentation of a more-or-less forgotten hit musical from yesteryear are Bayou City Concert Musicals' fundraising cabaret performances. Kicking off their 2014 season, Paul Hope has programmed an evening of Irving Berlin's hit songs for the 1930s. In this set, titled CHEEK TO CHEEK: IRVING BERLIN IN THE 1930s, there are numerous favorites that left audiences tittering excitedly from the time they took their seats until the program ended.

Main Street Theater is extending the run of A Civil War Christmas: An American Musical Celebration through Dec. 29. Added performances are Dec. 26 at 7:30pm, Dec. 27 & 28 at 8pm, and Dec. 29 at 3pm. Scroll down for photos of the cast in action!
