Last night, with just over a week left in Supergirl Melissa Benoist's run in the title role of BEAUTIFUL: THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL, the real life King decided to pay a visit to the show that tells the story of her life. As she has done in the past, King's appearance at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre was a surprise to the cast.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Award-winning Canadian actress Chilina Kennedy, who made her Broadway debut as 'Mary Magdalene' in Jesus Christ Superstar, has nabbed the title role in Beautiful-The Carole King Musical, the smash hit musical about the early life and career of the legendary and groundbreaking singer/songwriter. Kennedy begins performances on March 7, 2015, succeeding Tony Award-winner Jessie Mueller, who will play her final performance in Beautiful later this week on March 6 at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre (124 West 43rd Street). Producers Paul Blake and Sony/ATV Music Publishing present the highly anticipated new musical Beautiful-The Carole King Musical, about the early life and career of the legendary and groundbreaking singer/songwriter. Beautiful will have its pre-Broadway World Premiere this fall at the SHN Curran Theatre from September 24 - October 20, 2013. Tickets go on sale for the SHN engagement at 10am on Friday, August 16th. Michael Riedel reports today in the New York Post that things are 'moving along' for a new musical, NATURAL WOMAN featuring the music of the song writer Carole King. A new reading of the show, based on her own life took place last week, put together by King's daughter Sherry Goffin Kondor and she was reportedly pleased with the work, which will hopefully move the project forward.
