Audiences in the West Village were enchanted last weekend with the opening of the Players Theatre 11th LUV 2023 Short Play Festival.

Ushering in 2023, the love-themed festival marks the beginning of the 12th year of the tri-annual festival. Fifteen playwrights from New Zealand to New York will be premiering their original short plays, chosen by the SPF TEAM from a record-breaking number of submissions. Each week, five of the short plays will appear onstage, and a 'Best of the Week' production will be selected by audience vote.

New York City theatre goers received a spooky treat last weekend with the opening of the Players Theatre Boo! Short Play Festival. Each weekend for three weeks, a new selection of 15 minute original plays premieres to the haunting delight of audiences.

Tilted Keyboard Studios (TKS) has just released a virtual cover of 'Wait for Me' from the hit musical Hadestown. The purpose is to support a cause that is near and dear to their hearts: the return of theatre. Tilted Keyboard has partnered with The Actors Fund to raise money to support those in the industry who were truly hit hardest by the pandemic.

King Lahiri Productions, LLC held an online industry read on April 25th to kick off filming their new short film Short-Haired Domestic Silver Tabby. The short focuses on the unique isolation of grieving during COVID, and how grief for a pet is often judged in society.

The Nuyorican Poets Café recently partnered with Blended City, LLC to bring a dynamic online rendition of Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa's 2009 play Rough Magic to audiences around the world. This is the first of many online productions to come from the acclaimed multicultural arts center on the Lower East Side.

Dixon Place presents a new fantasy radio drama: BLACKBLADE is written by Arif Silverman and directed by Lillian Wooten White, available through the Dixon Place website from December 13th through January 10th. Rebel Playhouse is thrilled to present the world premiere of THE STRAY, written and composed by Arif Silverman, directed by Emma Hasselbach, and co-presented by The Theater at the 14th Street Y. The musical teaches audiences about the power of understanding with a cast of animal characters. The show runs for a limited engagement September 28 - October 6, Saturdays at 11am and 1pm and Sundays at 1pm, at The Theater at the 14th Street Y (344 E. 14th St). The Off-Off-Broadway company, Always Love Lucy Theatre, has announced that it will present Hello to Rose, four of Tennessee Williams' one act plays featuring a cast comprised mainly of older actors and actors of color. The production will run 6 performances only, July 11 to July 15 at The Bridge @ Shetler Studios, 244 West 54th Street, 12th Floor.
