Maryland Ensemble Theatre's production of Charles Dickens' classic “A Christmas Carol” returns to Frederick's Weinberg Center for the Arts for one weekend only from December 15 - 17, 2023!

Join Maryland Ensemble Theatre and the Friends of Cunningham Falls and Gambrill State Parks in the theatrical viewing of South & Saints! South & Saints, which opened at Maryland Ensemble Theatre in May 2023 and ran through June 2023, brought together community storytelling and civic engagement, elevating the voices of Frederick's rich African American and Black community and their considerable contributions to the landscape of Frederick as we know it today. 

Maryland Ensemble Theatre's 24th Mainstage season continues to bring thought-provoking and relevant theatre to Downtown Frederick with Detroit '67 by Dominique Morriseau. MET Company Member Ray Hatch directs MET's first production of 2022. Running February 11 through March 6, audiences are sure to love this entertaining, educational play that illuminates a lesser-known period from our nation's history.

Maryland Ensemble Theatre will present their first interactive Zoom show: Loving Frederick. Over the course of three episodes, the creative minds at MET, led by Director and MET Company Member Tabetha L. White, take audiences on a virtual tour through Frederick’s many communities.

Maryland Ensemble Theatre will present their first feature film: Something Brilliant: The Rise And Fall Of The IllumiNation Cult. Available to stream through MET's website starting Saturday March 20, this original mockumentary directed by MET's Artistic Director Tad Janes and Associate Artistic Director Gené Fouché takes a comedic look at what became of the members of the IllumiNation cult featured in MET's 2007 original stage production: Something Brilliant Will Come To Us.

A collection of quirky Vermont locals enrolls in Marty's a?oeAdult Creative Dramaa?? class; including James, Marty's apprehensive husband; Theresa, a darling former actress from New York; Lauren, an awkward high school junior and Schultz, a vulnerable and recently divorced carpenter. These once-strangers begin to know each other far more intimately than expected as they traverse along with Marty's seemingly silly theater games and exercises. The group finds itself thrust into real-life love triangles, family troubles, confessions, and unexpected transformations.

But as economic upheaval and picket lines begin to strike their lives, they find themselves pitted against each other in a desperate fight to protect their livelihood and stay afloat.

Directed by MET Associate Artistic Director, Gene Fouche, fresh off her direction of MET's sellout production of Bad Jews.The play will run at MET for five weeks beginning December 2nd. Thursday thru Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 3pm. Written by Reiner Prochaska and directed by Suzanne Beal, the play tells the story of a family living on a German farm in Frederick during the Revolutionary War. When they end up taking an escaped Hessian soldier captive, the soldier helps them rediscover love, hope, forgiveness, and the meaning of Christmas. A show for the whole family and an excellent way to celebrate the holidays, it will run at MET this December for fourteen performances over four weeks.

Bruce Norris' satirical comedy won the 2011 Pulitzer Prize Award and the 2012 Tony Award for Best Play. 'Clybourne Park' will be directed by Peter Wray and will run every Thursday through Sunday at Maryland Ensemble Theatre from tonight, September 12 through October 5.

It is about sex, but mostly because that is where love starts. The effect is orgasm, of course, but it is also the breaking down of walls. As the barriers finally fall, the mood turns lyrical, and the action ends with a kind of latter-day echo of the wedding dance that would often finish a Shakespeare comedy.
