Three Script In Hand Ensemble Performances Will Explore The Role Women Have Played In Greek Theatre 

The Resident Acting Company, formed two years ago by members of the Pearl Theater Company, announced today that they will present Women In Greek Theatre, three script in hand performances that will explore the important role that female characters have played in ancient Greek theatre. The series will run at The Players (16 Grammercy Park South) and commences on February 20th with Euripides' Helen translated by Emily Wilson. 6PM cash bar. 7PM reading. The Resident Acting Company Presents POLISHING SHAKESPEARE

In 2015, the news that the Oregon Shakespeare Festival had commissioned modern English translations of all of Shakespeare's plays drew alarm from purists. Over the past month, the PlayOn! Festival has been presenting all 39 translations. The month-long festival concludes on June 30th and on July 1st The Resident Acting Company will present a new play based on the powerful debate behind these translations-Polishing Shakespeare by HBO Def Poet and critically acclaimed playwright, Brian Dykstra and starring Bradford Cover, Robin Leslie Brown and Kate Rigg. The play will be directed by Margarett Perry.

Resident Acting Company To Present BLITHE SPIRIT At The Players This Spring/Summer

The Resident Acting Company, the new ensemble formed by members of the Pearl Theater Company announced today that they will present THE TIME SERIES, four script in hand performances that will explore various aspects of time, and the role it plays in literature and in our everyday lives. The Resident Acting Company, a new troupe drawn from the performing ensemble of The Pearl Theatre Company, will present a staged reading of 'The Belle's Strategem' by Hannah Cowley on Monday, October 29 at 7:00 PM at The Players Club, 16 Gramercy Park South.  The reading is the second installment of the troupe's 'The Language Series,' which is devoted to plays that delve into the use of words to lie, deceive, manipulate, conquer, tell the truth, work out the meaning of life and even to find love. 

The Resident Acting Company (RAC), Drawn From The Former Pearl Troupe, Emerges With Staged Reading Of THE BIG NIGHT

On June 25, The Resident Acting Company (www.racnyc.org), a new troupe drawn from the performing ensemble of The Pearl Theatre Company, will present a staged reading of 'The Big Night' (1928) by humorist Dawn Powell, a harsh, biting comedy about a woman whose husband has been fired from an advertising agency.  The play was the author's masterpiece but failed on Broadway in a production of The Group Theatre. The version to be offered is a restoration by Michael Sexton from the author's original notes and drafts.  It retains some of the Group Theatre's 'improvements' but includes the author's original ending.  The reading will be at 7:00 PM at The Players Club, 16 Gramercy Park South, directed by Bradford Cover, Artistic Director of the troupe.

PONDLING, 'LITTLE THING' and STOOPDREAMER Top Origin's 1st Irish Award Nominations; Ceremony Set for 9/28

The 8th annual Origin's 1st Irish Festival is announcing today that two productions from Ireland -- "Pondling" and "Little Thing, Big Thing" (both at 59E59 Theaters), and one from New York -- "Stoopdreamer" at the cell -- each attracted five nominations for the festival's top honors, which will be handed out an Awards Ceremony co-hosted by the Broadway actress Geraldine Hughes at Scandinavia House, 58 Park Avenue, on Monday September 28 at 7pm. The Festival continues through Sunday October 4.

New Drama STOOPDREAMER Opens Off-Broadway Tonight

Nancy Manocherian's the cell will present the World Premiere of STOOPDREAMER, a new drama about the lingering effects of gentrification, by Pat Fenton. Featuring an immersive staging by director Kira Simring, previews begin September 4 with opening slated for Thursday, September 10 as part of Origin's 1st Irish Theater Festival 2015. NOTE: this limited engagement is produced on an Off-Broadway contract.
