RACHEL DEAN (composer) is a pianist, music director, and writer originally from Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Now New York City-based, she works as a rehearsal pianist for Hamilton and frequently music directs new works in development. She has collaborated alongside former members of the In the Heights cast and creative team, most frequently with Salgado Productions. An ASCAP award winner, Rachel has had her work performed in New York, Miami, Cincinnati, and Hoboken. Upcoming performances of her musicals include THE ANXIETY PROJECT (concert version, Town Stages NYC, March) and MEDUSA (book and lyrics by Wes Braver; off-Broadway, summer 2018); other musicals in development include AMELIA (book and lyrics by David Brush; based on the novel AMELIA LOST by Candace Fleming).
